I have been walking for about 3 hours and have found several ghost towns a handful of abandoned cottages and one skeleton. Looks neat I guess, but the game seems to have gone the way of Roanoke

There are several hundred active players on each server. You are simply underestimating the size of the map.

the areas you encounter first are also the areas everyone else encountered first, which means ****** forts people outgrew early and/or the first places to be raided.

Some areas are more populated than others, I know of many players within a short walk from my base, but I also know areas that you wont find any active players within a hours walk at wander speed.
