Dallane about permadeath i can say the least is you are blind. From my personal experience and my ingame friends - permadeath after 1-2month of playing lead 90% people to "what !? all over again - no way, its too boring, my irl time is to precious to waste like this, too many other games out there itc" (this is multiplied when death is stupid or happened in a way one could not do a thing, like when vets killing newbs for fun).
Very fast this leads to only elitist player spending 12h+ in game stay alive out there (dont forget about bots and free use of exploits - whitch is unacceptable for commercial product, but was ok for "hobbie game H&H")

On the other hand i have to admit game have potential. Would be glad if its a story with happy end.

Dallane is right. It has nothing to do with permadeath. Get over it. Quit posting about it. There are other games out there with hardcore modes and large numbers of players. It's about the execution (pun intended) of the game design that's important.

I can't say for other players, all I can say is for myself. I played HnH and liked it a lot. I quit after my first permadeath (an endgame geared guy 1 shot me on the porch of my own house). Tried HnH again at the beggining of W6, but quit for good after another death (taming a sheep ended up really bad). I never even bother playing HnH again, even if I could start fresh on W7. I now play Salem and I like it more than HnH, but I will quit it for good after a permadeath (or if the game ends up abandoned by the devs ofc). I do hope for a near future update as a proof of life from the devs.

Why are you playing a permadeath game at all?

I think that many of the people who play this game the most would not if there wasn't permadeath or at least some really harsh consequences for getting murdered.

If a game is only fun enough to play through it once, do you refuse to play it at all?

Fair enough but it just seems a bad fit for you if you don't like permadeath games.

Not all games are played for their intended purposes.

I love everything about this 2 Seatribe games (HnH and Salem), but the permadeath aspect. I find them close to perfect, and there are no other games like these (and i struggled a lot to find one). I won't lie, but if someone releases a HnH or Salem like game without the permadeath I'm sold for it without a doubt. So far I keep playing a crafting game that lately feels more like a post apocalyptic game, where there are close to 50people alive and everything they do is stay alive while scavenging through abandoned and raided towns.

If you find such a game you will build a base, craft everything, and quit in the span of a month.
