The game is far from being out of beta, IMHO, it is still in early alpha development.

There's gamebreaking bugs & exploits that STILL exist, there's a cash-shop item that's been promised 3 months ago and still didn't arrive,....

Don't expect anything to happen soon, all you can do is listen to the rumors that have been spread, too bad the devs don't communicate more..

Wait, you're right. It went into open beta. For some odd reason I was remembering it as being effectively fully released when that happened.

For all intent and purposes, it might as well be, but given the level of development, it wouldn't be smart to actually called it "released."

Honestly I think they got dropped by Paradox due to them not doing what they said they would. Heck we were supposed to have witchcraft a year ago. And horses? etc etc. Now that Paradox is out of the picture you see how the updates are coming. There not. We are back to the ole 1 update every 3 months it seems. And let's not even talk about how they wont comment on the forums to keep us updated. Heck the only reason to come to the forums now is to watch the drama from the usual suspects  It is sad as this game had a good chance, but now it is slowly fading to black and everyone is just to blind to see it. Great idea just lazy devs.

Please don't read too much into Paradox stepping away from the project. You can only do so much with a two man team, and these guys have had ties with Paradox for years.

3 man team ! Jorb & Loftar already mentioned once that they don't want more people in the Salem team, kinda sad though...

While I don't discount what artists do in game design and development, they don't really do much when it comes to programming and development. (Some artists can and do work on programming or game design.) You can't really count them as a team member when it comes to design or programming if they don't work on this part. That's why it's only two man.

Bottom line is they dropped the ball. The game has/had potential and they are letting it slip right through their fingers. I am wondering if this is more of a hobby to them than an actual job? Maybe they do not need the money? If so then hey we get what we get. As for Paradox leaving and not reading into it? Well companies do not just walk away from a game unless they see no profit. Guess what? At the rate this game is going it will be down to 50-100 people at best playing. Now with my next statement I am gonna clarify ahead of time. I do not mind the perma death.

If they did a little experiment and shut down and merged the 3 servers back together and then opened one that had say no perma death but full loot and billed it as the "crafting" server I bet you they would get a ton of players staying. I know there will be the regular trolls on here saying it has been said they wont etc etc. I am aware of this. But doing an experiment to see what works and what does not work is the key to a good gaming company. Not being stubborn and saying it's my or the highway. While that may work in a perfect world, we do not live in one. You make a game with your ideas but sometimes you have to bend a bit to what the public may want.
This games crafting is amazing, but allowing the griefing that goes on right now with the perma death and the rampant trolls rolling everyone is not the way to stay in business. But for the most part that is what is in the game right now and unless they change the way this game is played it will not last with any type of profit margin. Argue all you want but the numbers do not lie.

To be clear I do not mean wipe all the servers. I mean merge the perma death into one server then reopen one to the full loot no perma death crafting server.
