nobody is complaining about the fact that mothers need time away from work to have children.
you just keep on missing the important point, and dont seem to understand the employer's (and maybe also their customers') situation because you are biased and only thinking about mothers' side. have you EVER considered this seriously outside school? when someone leaves, someone else has to take the place, and when she comes back, that someone else who took it over will have to leave, or their company has to grow to afford another employee and job. and its not like one company has only one or two female workers. the situation can go worse when they have more female workers. what happens when a dozen female workers have to take a leave at the same time? can employees ask all female workers to "plan" and "carry out the plan" exactly? NO. then what can employers do? what is the option for them? to charge more from the customers which may result in losing them and end up firing employees?

Claeyt wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality_of_opportunity from the link you posted back when,

You'll notice in the second paragraph how Progressive ideology has changed the interpretation of Equality of Opportunity from the belief in meritocracy to that of using the philosophy for discrimination laws, and to promote social mobility and upward mobility. We've changed it to define "Equal Opportunities" as well as promoting a meritocracy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality_of_outcome from the link you posted back when,

You'll notice that basic "Equality of Outcome" as defined by Progressive Democratic-Socialism is not in complete opposition to "Equality of Opportunity". We still live in meritocracies. We still live in a world of success through abilities. We've simply decided, democratically, that a basic right to social welfare is good for society. Fanatical "Equality of Outcome" would be in direct opposition to "Equality of Opportunity" but basic levels of taxation and basic levels of welfare, social security and government run healthcare aren't destroying all "Equality of Opportunity", for the same reason that absolute "Equality of Opportunity" and meritocracy would destroy our freedoms, but general basic meritocracy is good for society. They contrast, but are not in direct polar opposition to each other. It's not even a spectrum, rather, the two work parallel to each other while sometimes competing against each other at specific points or roadblocks.

The examples that were given and my arguments against them or for them, are those specific roadblocks that we as a society have solved and continue to solve, democratically, over time.

do you even understand what you wrote?
changing the interpretation does not remove the issues to make less "mutually exclusive". it can be less "mutually exclusive" when those issues are solved, when such fanatical outcome is gone, and when government run rules and "so-called roadblocks" stop destroying true opportunities.

Who's crying? What are you talking about? Old People? Most Old people where I live aren't jealous of the young. They're glad they lived when they did and yes, some of them fear the future with it's brown skin and uncertainty, but accept this future as the one that became, while they were living.

And as to Oscar Wilde: Do you think he would think that this time is a "Bright Future", where he could love and marry a man without repercussion? I think he would have loved to live now and would have viewed this young future as much better than his old era.

1. i dont use blue fonts for sarcasm. and you just refuted yourself.

I absolutely understand what I wrote, and more so I supported what I wrote with the wikipedia pages. The differing opinions about "Equality of Opportunity" is right there.

True opportunities for whom, The Rich, White people, Those lucky enough to get ahead or be ahead. General "Equality of Opportunity" and General "Equality of Outcome" are not competing against each other. The enemy of opportunity, meritocracy and egalitarianism is nepotism, cronyism, discrimination, corruption and privilege. The enemy of socialized outcome for the betterment of society at large is uncontrolled, unregulated capitalism, libertarianism, and inherited wealth.

Where did I refute myself? I don't see it.
As I've said repeatedly in this thread, I enter all things with an open mind and the knowledge that I am not smarter or wiser than anyone.
Oscar Wilde liked men not boys.

As to how much I know about him, I've read most of his works. I've been to his grave in Paris which is right around the corner from Jim Morrison's and you can throw a rose at and hit Edith Piaf's gravestone from the bench behind it. (I met a couple of girls from Texas in Paris and they wanted to go and kiss his grave, but they didn't speak French, so we went together. :D ) His epitaph from "The Ballad of Reading Gaol" was written during his exile in France following his 2 year imprisonment for sodomy in Britain. His gravestone epitaph is a partial passage from that poem about prison:

"And alien tears will fill for him
Pity's long-broken urn,
For his mourners will be outcast men,
And outcasts always mourn."

Most people don't know the lines that follow that passage.

"I know not whether Laws be right,
Or whether Laws be wrong;
All that we know who lie in gaol
Is that the wall is strong;
And that each day is like a year,
A year whose days are long.

But this I know, that every Law
That men have made for Man,
Since first Man took His brother's life,
And the sad world began,
But straws the wheat and saves the chaff
With a most evil fan."

Do I know Oscar Wilde? Yes. He and I are brothers in the Progressive fight for the Human Condition.

...and no I'm not gay.

I liked my name.

Tears, what tears. Are you talking about the cemetery? Meh, I was 20, I mostly went to get high on Dutch hash (nice) and French Whiskey (awful) at Morrison's grave. It's an amazing place. Tons of famous people. And let me tell you, Texas girls don't mind getting drunk in a graveyard.

I don't know where you're getting that I'm a good, nice, safe guy. There are plenty of Liberal men who are "Bad Boys". I'm more of a liberal guy in the guise of Albert Camus or George Orwell. Yes most good girls do like a little bad in their boys, but both good girls and bad girls hate guys who mock them and say their place is in the kitchen. :D

Wrong. And its not mocking. Its acknowledging the truth. They know it to be true in their own sub conscience and instinctively respect the alpha male that reality checks their silly "movements" that any self-respecting female confident in her gender role doesn't want anything to do with anyway.
