A monthly fee for a *now* indie game just wouldn't work out, the one time fee however I agree with
Eve online is not dying they are even expanding

However I prefer idea of initial payment when you are creating account, if someone would want to spend 15$ for subscription and get access to some bonus -50% silver drain from claim it would be great, from time to time, when I have less time to play, I would do that to save time and keep away raiders from my camp.
But imo it should be like "Premium pack for month-name" not forever subscription of course it should do more than just lower claims drain.
If we are talking about ideas... I am not huge fan of WoW, but they had nice idea about alt characters some time ago... if you had char with 60+(?) lvl you could create new character Death knight (if I remember it right). It could be used in Salem too, if we get few profs higher than 100 and biles 300+, on same account we could unlock option for new character with some bonuses, there can be only single bonus-character per account, if he die you can inherit bonus. It should push people to grind and level up their chars instead of do stupid cricket, mushroom hunting all the time.
