So jorb, a bunch of us have noticed that the dropping something in water sound effect has starting to just randomly occur in the wild (Seems to be if you are near water, ofc) ever since this update, and we're all wondering why.... any hints?

As an indication of a good fishing spot? or just a random ambient noise

I figured it was the small animal spawns dropping into the water

Personally I think a small cost to buy a game account, would be ideal for seatribe games to stop the alt spam and generally enchance the gameplay.

obviously some people would buy multiple accounts but this is good, and better than a cash shop which sells items. cash shop could then be cosmetic items only.

altho I'm guessing alot of people only play haven because they are from 2nd world countries and cannot afford even £5 for a game they play 24/7, but maybe less russians would mean more paying customers

I like the idea of a way to either pay for your account OR a subscription based service that wouldn't be P2W. Something like $15.00/mo but cuts your P-claim monthly costs in half. The more experienced dedicated players would most certainly buy this and the new players would only pay the subscription if they got massive claims and/or towns.

Monthly fees for MMOs is a very dated business tactic, it's slowly dying out but WoW remains firm in it simply because their playerbase allows for it

A monthly fee for a *now* indie game just wouldn't work out, the one time fee however I agree with

Keep in mind the subscription would be completely "optional". A "Premium" account would ONLY receive a 50% reduction to their P-Clam and V-Claim monthly fees. Something only a serious player would consider but something any serious player would most likely be happy to pay.

Problem here would be the communication: you have to explain what for the subscription is. One of the results would be players who bought that and did know/understand the effect of the subscription.
If you check the store, almost every item in the store is self-explanatory. The subscription would require at least one or two explanation-phrases.

The other problem comes from plain maths:
15USD equals roughly in 500s if you bought the silver-packages from the store.

For a basic V-claim the monthly upkeep would drop from 1200s to 600s, which would help a lot. The bigger the V-claim the more a subscription would be superior to non-subscription.

A bit different picture would happen for a P-claim. To get to the "break-even"-point, the monthly upkeep of a P-claim would need to be ~1000s per month, which translates into an P-claim area of 8800m² (about 94x94) ( PC_size = (Upkeep_per_month/30 - 4) *300 )

I admit, i am a quite casual Salem-player, my P-claim is around 5000m² atm and about 3/4 of it is in use. Yet i need up to 2-4 hours per day to keep everything moving. With a P-claim of 8800m² i would need to be playing salem around 4-6 hours a day which i cannot afford to do so because of lack of time (job, travelling etc.).
In feudalism, it's your count that votes...

Since it only does one thing then maybe they could just make it a decaying item that has the effects he described.

That way it could be sold in the shop like other stuff. And they could also maybe make one for p claims as well.
