If they want to be competitive then yes.

Or just play with people and split the work up

That works only if you have some truested friends to play with. Otherwise it doesn't really work.

But still, when talking about newbies who just want to hermit in peace - if they concentrate more on building braziers and defences than expanding their place then they can live in peace. Simply by making raiding them not worth the effort.

You don't have to hay spam. You can humus spam :ugeek: It may not be as good but its just as effective. That is if you are not trying to Tier a field in one go.

Sometimes yeah, but not always you gotta at least take a chance.

This isn't always true. Not everyone is out there just to stab you in the back. I think people just need to start being a little more trusting. I'm not saying invite every person you see to play with you but make friends with people and eventually you can build up trust. This is how the CG got started. We were all hermits at one point. We made friends with one and another and made a town. None of us were friends before Salem.

That's what I meant as well. You got to know and trust each other, and THEN you made a town. That works.
But making town with random people will not work.

hardcore famville, just not for casuals. If you put enough time into it then there is no reason why you can't achieve 'titan' status. I think this is the main gripe, the required grind to become somewhat competitive on similar levels.

Hay spamming is great if you got a person dedicated to farming 140+ cereal fields every day with speed at 150:D Binks lol

You dont need that many cereal fields, just take your time. Once you have the influence bars where you want them, make t3 stuff and add a little humus when you rotate once in a while. It is really simple and effortless. The update was a blessing for the casuals.

I have tried to be as trusting as possible while playing salem. Sure, that means I open myself to easy scamming and treachery (mostly, darwoth). It also means that I get to know a lot of people. Yes, you will run into some dishonest players. My experience is, though, that the largest part of the player base is nice rather than mean, when given the chance.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
