There should be a large divide between characters and bases. Characters being more disposable and bases being more set in stone after being built

Characters should max out for all practical purposes after 2-3 weeks of no-lifing, or 2 months of casual play.

Add a few new devs to replace the bulk of the work you do now.

Hire a product/project/community manager.

Start taking a less hands on role (in terms of coding), but...work closely with your new team to make sure Salem stays true to your vision. Create a development pipeline, maintain it, make sure its what you guys want to avoid situations like the one you seem to be having with gluttony. Use it as a basis to set expectations for the community. No more of this " we are considering this" or " see this soon", set clear timelines and milestones while making sure they are adhered to.

The game has a lot of potential, but this could be that pivotal moment where the final outcome is decided. More people, more ideas, better ideas, more content and likely a better game.

Pity they arn't hiring.

Limit raiding-window, so raids would be max 4 hours per day... after totem allows you to waste structures you should have
4 hours of raiding/bashing/killing and stealing, after that time totem is switching to "siege/waiting mode" again for 24 hours (and again it can't be destroyed)
and after that time (24h) again switch to "raid mode" another 4h...
repeat it endlessly to get max fun of sieges and raiding :)

Larger towns would need few days siege to get completly destroyed, because of crime debuff length and people wouldn't have to be online for 24h per day just because you fighting against no-lifes.

I will jump on this band wagon.. Random **** keeps things interesting.. You never know what you will get.. the update roulette.

But meh, I am behind this pause in updates and eagerly await the long term plan. (I hope there's cows in there somewhere!)

I think you have this the wrong way round - A life should always be more important then a house and wall, and adding a cap to humors will just encourage people to create even more alts and level them up to the cap. It should simply be much harder to level as you get higher. Getting to 10-15 humors though should be easier, as this is the point that new players can actually start killing crickets in any decent numbers to start making silver - and feeling more accomplished. Hook them in quickly by making them invested in a character they have developed in a day or two of playing.
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

What is keeping me from playing more at the moment, is not the purity nerf in itself.
But it is the lack of people to play with.
About 80% of my (long) kin list, rarely, if ever plays anymore, since the Above and Below update.

So yea, I think it's good you guys take moment to look at stuff from a bird's eye perspective, and really think of what is needed to revive this game.
Did Claeyt shut up yet?
WARNING: berrymash laxatives can cause your character to explode violently, after eating chymically unstable foods.

Since last week I have been complaining that they were saying there would be things happening and they weren't. I am glad to hear that they recognise that they weren't able to provide meaningful updates every week and so have stopped that promise. I still look forward to updates even if they won't be as often/predictable, and I still dream of a reset, either in Salem or Haven. Thanks Jo-Lo for keeping us informed.
