How about a Darkfall like proficiency system? Depends on how often you use a tool or weapon, type of action and type of object you use tool on, the more efficient you get which means for example, your efficiency of digging soil using metal shovel is 100% and proficiency in using said tool is also at maximum, you can dig a bit faster and your phlegm drains less. When applies the same metal shovel for removing tree stumps, that action's efficiency is different from digging's thus making the amount of drained phlegm varied. When using this method on weapons, given that there would be more varieties later on,yb of a player who has high efficiency using thrust action with sword (also high proficiency) would drain less than the one who isn't used to that same action using said weapon, thus a mid bile player with his forte could defeat a stronger one. For ranged weapons, it means faster reload and less yb drain.
If this was to be implemented, it would need adding more combat actions for melee and some penalty for melee weapons as well. For example, sword is faster but has less damage compared to halberd which is cumbersome but deals better damage. For ranged weapons, the differences should be between types of grain in gunpowder for accuracy. With bow and crossbow, types of wood used to craft them.
This will bring more grinds and to be honest, nothing beneficial for newbies, combat aspects or otherwise, but would give mid players a chance to survive.

lol... i know we are all guinea pigs, i know that is what i deserve because i accepted to be a pig like that, but stay with shoes on ground now, that "decreasing the supergap between newbs and vets..." is a real loss for bigs?
aren't you scared of words like "decreasing-cap-titans..."etc? that "decreasing... etc" is only for a very little part of that gap... like 1% of a mountain.
we can think how dig a tunnel under it or try to avoid it, the problem still exist and some god can destroy it for a aestetical pleasing hill... we are there to give opinions and suggestions, not for blaming "decreasing- vets" just because you think it's wrong, maybe it is but still there are worse problems

whantn't you some other newbies here around? roaming and building and carving the lands making that game big again?

This is exactly what I meant.


i'm not saying to use a bike for all the way up... just a little sprint to allow you to start working without grind like a mad man all the stuffs there are there.
and so... if you have a titan, what can that sprint "for newbs" do to you with like 500h? i will reach faster the nice 20h to start activities, and have a reason to roam around again without thinking "omg i need to raise my humors again! i'm so poor in everything and dieing of everything which chase me!!"

and so... if you started playing 3 months ago you will be better improved than some1 with only a week... at least in game experience and skills. and firends, and base, and MANY other things


PS: doesn't jorbtar cut for a while all our little chars from reaching titans? ¦] isn't that some sort of "bike" (also know as broken mechanic) some1 aquired before others only because they started first? isn't that unfair? yes it is (i'm not complaining you to have this sort of monsters, i'm only suggestioning and showing my point)

i'm saying you'll consume more blood/phlegm/Yellowbile/BlackBile for a little add to your maximum gap (until a fixed limit: 20 or so)
