On the humours

As was said multiple times already, I believe, a wipe is forthcoming when jorbtar decide the purity system is completely finished and balanced to their liking.

lol, there isn't going to be a wipe.

The only ones who win, and then only short-term, are the currently medium-humor players who fall just below the arbitrary boundary for deletion. I say only temporarily, because people seem to assume that it was previously "easy" to get 300-400+ humours god-like titans.

I don't know why they would remove them anyway. If having high humor characters is such a bad thing to them, the easiest thing, and most fair, would be to just take every character above 150 and reduce the humors to 150 (or whatever number the devs think is 'correct' for someone who's put a lot of work into it).

At the same time, the defenses would have to be reset to what they were when 150 was the best anyone expected to get. That is, 150 is what humors were at just before the walls got buffed and the braziers got super buffed and all the infrastructure became almost indestructible to the average hermit. 400~ humor characters emerged as a response to the changes, not before.

I think something like this is one of the necessary fixes to rebalance the game since the purity patches. It has been stated by jorb that they're meaning to scale back the defenses in order to adjust to the new purity. That simply *can't* happen while there still are 300+ humour characters running around. The purity update was already bad enough in creating a huge gap between old and new players - the latter simply can't reach what the older ones achieved ever due to the changes, even if they put in as much or even more effort. In this scenario, keeping the "titans" running around is a huge reward to older players for just happening to start playing when the purity was broken. I can't imagine a new player finding any interest in commiting their time (and money) to the game after figuring out they can't even get close to the top simply because they only found out about the game after that patch that made it impossible to ever become a relevant force in the server.

While I agree with the devs lowering the humours to the number they think is appropriate given the new reality, there's still a problem. These ppl still have lots of high purity seeds/humus/pumpkins/etc laying around, what would stop them from using them to boost their humours back up to where they were before the devs scaled them down? Unless there was a cap in effect that limited their ability to go over 150 humours (or whatever jorbtar believe being appropriate) even if they used those broken resources, they'd just get back to inbalanced values in no time. Also, capping humours would still allow for big imbalances given the broken purity food would just be used to produce a bigger number of 100-150 alts. What's the common element here? The old seeds/humus/food purity. Nuke those, and there will be no way the current titans can keep on raiding and dominating their servers without slowly seeing their humours drain back to a value that can be sustained by the current system (thanks to brazier drain). Couple that with lowering humours and a great deal of balance will be restored to the server, and I'm positive a great deal of players would return aswell.

enough with the rebalance. my chars got between 40 and 160 humors, so i ant no where near the "titan"
but
you have to remind yourselves that this is still _BETA_. And in order to test all new implementations out properly they need people with huge amount of biles. and people with medium and small. no one is more important.
stop complaining please. this is the game, don't like it. then stop playing,
things will get better at some point, these last weeks of changes has to be a part of a bigger picture, otherwise it makes no sense at all.

Because? It looks like our resident old purity character abusers seem to drive out more players than they would if they simply didn't have them at all. I mean, have you seen the "scalp collecting" thread?

Kandarim wrote:crafts a torch as soon as possible

No reasonable player would conclude that torches are somehow easier to light than outdoor fire-places without it being told to them first. It's not in any in-game guides either. To add to that, it's still just chance to light one and it does fail occasionally. I thought one of the reasons we started to program games on computers was to eliminate the need for dice roll style approaches to game-play?

Kandarim wrote:just sacrifice one iron bar for a flint&steel

That's real easy to say when you're not a new player. Buying one can cost upwards of seventy silver and buying the bar of iron alone even more than that.

Agreed.

Wipe is not needed at all I think. New server is needed. People with low humors will naturally stop playing on Jamestown, Plymouth and Roanoke. So New server would solve it without taking back what people achived. Old servers would simply be with Titans and for example chief would have what he wanted - server completly under his rule! And new and weaker players would move to new servers.

Anyway, whats the maximium level of humors you can get in reasonable time? If before patches 400 Humors took a year (example time), than how much humors would you have after playing year after patches?

Edit: But do not allow x-server transfers tho...

it is pretty obvious to anyone paying attention that in the near future food values will be reworked depending on the tier of food used to create them, this is likely a huge part of the balancing that will tie into purity.

and creation of 500 stat characters is not gone, just delayed. once someone grinds out high purity wood to make good compost we will be back to where we were before.

Agreed. This jwithhorn destroyed me and my friends bases after that other **** posted the location of our bases on the forum last week, he destroyed our bases and now we haven't logged back in a week.

I'm not going to rebuild something for months and months if one can destroy my base in 5 min because he joined the game early and managed to boost his biles a lot more than people who joined later on. So we basically quitted the game.

interesting since everything mentioned on the topic is that there will not be wipes, just because you and the other 15 stat newbs want a wipe doesnt make it forthcoming.

I actually do not want a wipe ;) I have spent a lot of time in my base and around the town I live in, I would rather not have to start all over again with terraforming. Hate terraforming.
I can't actually find the post in question, but I should nuance my original post: I remember it as such:
my mind wrote:IF we want to do a wipe, we will surely do it AFTER the alchemy system has been fixed completely.

"Hey look! We just screw every single player that has played this server since the beginning. We didn't just roll them back to people that started half a year later, no! we just deleted their characters completely."
I actually found the quote I was looking for on this one :)

I obviously do not want to tell anyone what to do or how to play the game, but this kind of the approach to raiding that we at least want to incentivize. I could live just fine with having a couple of chests and some valuables/my foodstocks stolen from me, but If I lost all my infrastructure.... well... that would be much worse.

Nope  just that you know don't have to roll the dices yourself anymore

which was my entire point. At the beginning creating fire is a pain, but once you get settled it's one of the first things you notice that just became a lot easier.
