This is for new players who wonder what on earth people are blabbering on about balancing your humours.

Simple math example:
You have 1/1/1/1 humours, and want to raise them to 5/5/5/5. Let's say you need one piece of cake to raise the gluttony meter by 1, to keep things simple.
If you want to raise those stats to 5/5/5/5 in a balanced way, you'd need 1+2+2+2 +2+3+3+3 +3+4+4+4 +4+5+5+5 = 52 pieces of cake

now let's say your humours are 1/1/1/5, and you want to raise them to 5/5/5/5
now you need 5+5+5 +5+5+5 +5+5+5 +5+5+5 = 60 pieces of cake. If you count the 1+2+3+4 = 10 pieces you already used to get to 1/1/1/5, you used 70 pieces already.

And don't forget that it ultimately depends on what food you have available for gluttony. If you get your humors to 5/10/10/10 but already had say .. wortbaked wartbites ready for glutting, then it's not such a big issue to have different value humors. A lot of the time it's a matter of minimizing the amount of food you have to eat, and food that would give you much more than you needed when having balanced humors can just as well be used later to catch up.

I didn't made the calculation but I got this in a practical way :) Since your max stat is the one that "triggers" the gluttony point for all biles, I know that I need to keep it as low as possible. ¦] Good example anyway !

Some imbalance isn't going to hurt. In truth, you make actually spend less (time, silver) getting 10 points of blood from say 10 to 20 IF you wait until you have a farm up and running and can make food that will give you a near guaranteed point of blood every time vs trying to overeat when all you're working with is foraged foods. Now, is trying to get that 10 blood up when you already have 100 BB and Phlegm going to be a pain? Yeah, but again, you can plan your foods a bit better, you have better access to variety, and it won't be as painful.

On the other hand, yeah, when ALL you have is foraged foods (no hunting or farming to supplement mushrooms, berries, and nuts), you definitely don't want to get something to 20 and leave others behind at 5. You probably won't get those low ones up until you do get farms or can hunt, whichever comes first, and maybe will need both.

if you want to pass from 1 to 5... there is 4 points of spread... 4x4=16
so you need 16 pies no?

No, it's much simpler than that. Well, it's not simple, but it's not impossible to learn, either.

Say I have 5/15/12/20 humors. To raise a point, you need 20 points in any one humor to raise it (the value of the highest). If you are trying to raise blood (only at a 5) and the food you're trying to glutton off of is only 4 points there, then yes, you'll need to eat 5. (It's actually more because of penalties and the time it takes to feast.) In total, you'll need more than 75 of that particular food to get up to 20. However, if you've gotten farming down, you can probably find foods from other skills that will give 20+ points in blood. In this case, you'll only need 15 of them, one for each point. Usually a food has secondary events or isn't perfect, though, so it's likely a few more than that.

Another thing to note is the penalty for eating the same thing. You're almost always better off using variety, anyway, as this eliminates the chances of getting points in the secondary areas.
