I believe in most MMOs the female population is outweighed by the male population, but the maturity level tends to vary based on the MMO. Games such as WoW, general shooters(COD or Battlefield), or like runescape tend to be filled with more men than women from my personal experience and I believe most would agree with me. Games such as Salem however tend to draw more mature crowds.

I believe Salem draws more mature and older crowds due to the long waits it has and the risk of permadeath, which would turn down risky gamers or gamers who like to constantly pvp. However despite people being older and perhaps more "mature" in the salem community compared to other games, there seems to be a higher tension in someways due to the sincerity some people take this game and that it is so easy to lose months of work in hours.

Anyone no matter the person get more barbaric when it comes to feeling threatened and Salem seems to be perfect for bring that out in some people. So I do believe that some men have resorted to such attitudes in this game, but we cannot rule out women as well. I am sure that both men and women a like get really pissed off and rage and spew out insults of varies kinds when death/being raided on occur.
