It means you can not have any high purity worms unless you had high purity foods before the patch.
Even then they will be capped at a very low rate, which makes low humus, which gives you low food.
Basically you'd be grinding your ass off for maybe 10% purity (IF you have high purity stuff) and gluttony will be a craps shoot.

Have some results from my first compost bin to use purity wood!

Here I am building the bin using boards and wood plugs produced by a tree grown in a sulphur pot. The nails are pretty much null purity, perhaps slightly lead content.

Next morning I came to check to see what humus was produced by the alchemies of the bin by itself - no purity worms.

Note 1 worm was produced plus 3 humus. The worm produced is still 25/25/25/25 in a purity bin =\

Finally I grabbed one of the worms I have been giving a sulphur diet and reaplced the null purity worm in the bin with him to see how he affects the next humus produced. Will post results later.

Some discoveries:

Destroying stump of a purity tree produces null purity woodblocks (25/25/25/25) - it is not inherited from the tree
Wood choppings randomly produced as side effect to crafting items with purity woodblocks also come out null purity(25/25/25/25)
Worms created randomly in bins with modified purity are created with null purity (25/25/25/25)

May I ask what pattern you lot are placing worms and plants in? I think I read somewhere that worms eat what is next to them and not diagonally. So rows are better than crosses?

Personally I use wooden boxes with 5 worms going across the middle row and food along the top and bottom rows. This way I figure each worm gets 2 servings and I have to replace food in 24 hours

According to my rusty mathematics skills, the purity of the compost is contributing 30% of its alchemies to the humus produced.

If I make a rough formula : Humus = 25 + (CompostBin - 25) *0.30 then I get roughly the same values I see in my humus above. Adding rounding at certain steps makes it match pretty much perfectly. Will have to check more with more data.

Or another way to look at this formula: Humus = 25 * 0.7 + CompostBin * 0.3
(70% of base purity + 30% of compost bin's purity)
