Why would, a pioneer, out in the middle of the scary wilderness, trying against all odds to survive, bother making a new compost bin once a week. This is the exact opposite of reality. These guys would use tools FOR GENERATIONS. There are farmers still using tools thier great great grandfather made by hand. Now Loftar saying pressure cookers are the same. These mehanics much more are representative of the walmart society of planned obsolesence we live in now. I makes no sense to me that someone would destroy their tools tha work fine for one that works a tiny bit better...

I believe Salem has become the grindiest mmo on the market.

You clearly haven't played MMO's like wurm. Salem still has nothing beat on that because there is literally nothing else to wurm except grind.

As for purity causing replacement of equipment: It's a system that worked well in haven, so they're bringing it here. Does it make "sense"? Within the laws of the game world yes. And beyond that gameplay > realism.

Survival in Sea Tribe games have always been about surviving the human threat, never the environmental ones.

I do feel sorry for all the people who've been playing and enjoying the salem before these updates. They've always been intended, and they're radically different from what we had in the interim with the near "purity less" gameplay outside self sustaining seed purity.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

you're right in the sense that it was to be expected, and this update is fair. Still has me discouraged from playing, but won't prevent me from coming back when there is a new server, or a wipe of one of the servers.

(12:17:27 AM) loftar: I guess I can say it right out, though, that the consequences of overcooking is directly related to how unstable the stuff has become.
(12:17:44 AM) loftar: So if you keep below a certain unstability, the house will never explode, guaranteed.
(12:17:50 AM) Colesie: kk, I'll update that into my post on the first page of the thre-
(12:18:00 AM) loftar: BWAHAHAHA
(12:18:01 AM) Jalpha: thats probably the part i understand the least, what dictates instability
(12:18:09 AM) Colesie: Don't worry loftar
(12:18:13 AM) loftar: Instability increases the longer you cook it.
(12:18:14 AM) Colesie: I'll just edit it into the OP for you
(12:18:15 AM) Colesie: :d
(12:18:24 AM) loftar: Thou art too kind.
(12:18:38 AM) Jalpha: okay, so instability has nothing to do with the elemental variance?
(12:18:51 AM) loftar: Nope

Note: This screenshot was taken after setting up the basket again.

I've put my worms inside a wooven basket. The pattern I used was:
wpw
pwp
wpw
w = worm
p = plant

The plants I've used where 2%-3% pure Blackberries (lead) and 2%-3% pure Wild Garlic (sulphur). Both wooven baskets I've setup had their worms eating.
Best worm I've got after the first cycle is Salt:25.02 Mercury:25.07 Sulhur:23.74 Lead:26.16

I hope this information helps out! I have setup my baskets again and see what happens tommorow. If it worked again tommorow I'm guessing all it took was a server side fix, which makes sense.
p.s. I'm on the Roanoke server.

I still find this hard to believe since you're the only one who have reported worms eating. I'll start believing you once either myself or others are seeing any results. Sorry. I'm sceptical by nature.
