In terms of getting Enders working again for me, I had to add one extra bit of information to the .bat file - as running it from ..salem\bin\ folder just flashed up a black cmd line window before it closed without launching the game.

Problem for me was that the command in the .bat file couldn't locate my javaw.exe, (as there wasn't one in my salem\bin\ folder)

Solution is still exactly as described by Hans, except my .bat file now contains 2 lines:

path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\"
javaw.exe -Dhaven.resurl="http://plymouth.seatribe.se/res/" -Dhaven.defserv="plymouth.seatribe.se" -jar salem.jar

Hope this is of help to anyone else with a similar setup (win7 x64) who might have been experiencing the same issue.

As someone that knows nothing about code and wouldn't know a .bat file from a Batman I guess I'll either have to play without it or take a break until it's fixed

I made a batch file with the following code:

path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\"
javaw.exe -Dhaven.resurl="http://plymouth.seatribe.se/res/" -Dhaven.defserv="plymouth.seatribe.se" -jar salem.jar

but that only gives me this error message:
Error: unable to acess jarfile salem.jar

(win7 64 bit here)

EDIT: I managed to get it working. I initially made the bat file in D:\TEMP.
Moving the .bat file to C:\users\my user name\salem\bin made it work.

I suppose the other thing I could have done was change the batchfile to:

It works for me now. But why doesn't the desktop icon appear after all installations? I had to create a shortcut (alias) this time. Not a big deal, just curious.

Hmm...I just retried the updater.jnlp I downloaded yesterday, which previously gave an error, and everything seems to be working normally again.

Don't you love mysterious problems that mysteriously vanish?
