Since money can't be taken back out of the game it's not legally "real" gambling and there's no international laws you'd need to worry about. This is what I've figured out through experience, but I'm no legal wiz here.

Puzzle Pirates has a very good in game poker system and is likely a foundation for why some people log into the game. But at the same time, the wealth redistribution that happens through essentially unchecked betting amounts significantly influences the game. I would worry if betting amounts weren't fixed to smallish amounts, whatever smallish means that is.

Definitely think if done well this could be a worthy addition to the game though.

Hmm there was some laws update about online gaming and legal issues in my country, so that could be problem.
Yet I am not a lawyer, so please check this before implementing.

I would find an in-game Poker table in Salem immersion breaking.
The rules of Poker were first established around 1850ish, well 200 years after the game's time frame.

As I tell anyone with this form of objection, the game will eventually have such notorious creatures as hide behinds and Jersey Devils, neither of which EVER existed and also has giant green grasshoppers that can kill you.... If your immersion can handle that it can handle a bit of poker.

Maybe some kind of pilgrim-poker? Blackjack? Whatever other cardgames there are? (never been my thing)

I mean, I bet there were poker-like games a long time before the actual rules were established.
I never managed to figure out something clever for my signature on Paradoxplaza, and I doubt I'll do it here either.

I love Blackjack, just not when it's played against the house.

It's amazing how the trump games have slowly evolved in time to become Bridge.

As I've pointed out repeatedly in multiple threads, historical accuracy isn't exactly the prime motivator in this game and as such, give me my damned Texas Holdem in a build able Inn/tavern if i want it dammit. that right there jumps your game players by....thousands......

There we go. A table/barrel top for up to 4 players to access and a deck of cards (or a gridded board with pieces so we can play checkers/chess/pente/etc...) we can buy from the company store.
