You've made a lot of baseless assumptions here, OP. To consider the current political landscape of Salem relevant in the game's highest humoured characters is poor judgement on your part. But if you need a history lesson, settle back and pay attention.
In the early days of post-wipe, the illustrious Chief set about taming the wilds of their savagery. What began as most likely a few players grew to larger numbers and a community blossomed. The Chief (or at least his posts) transformed from featuring him to featuring his Braves and in this world high humours combined with larger numbers than the enemy as well as experience raiding mean a lot. The criticism to the Tribe/Chief is that they have no life and spend most of their time in game, providing them with the advantage of time spent leveling, time spent building bases, and time spent traversing the great server of Plymouth to carry out justice.
Coles traveled to Salem from HnH and, from an outsider's perspective, latched himself onto the teat of Stax and the Gallows Hills folk. Prior to his joining what I call the "***** the Treaty Movement," he was best known as being that guy who was building a huge pile of dirt. The dirt pile, which was hampered by the Tribe, finally took the unfinished form of the Church of jorb (of the odd god, something like that) before the village of GH was infiltrated, destroyed, and its members scattered across the map. Mr. Coles settled, attempted tax collecting for the Tribe, and now works in the shadows as the face of the revolution due to Mushibag's untimely death (neverforget).
Darwoth, also known as the Darwoth in Swedish and Welsh folkore, is a creature of single-minded purpose. Unlike the Chief who gathered like-minded visionaries in the pursuit of scalping and Coles who used networking and political fervor to gain notoriety, Darwoth simply is and always will be. Rather than a personality, Darwoth is a symbol for all that is to be feared in the Lumberwoods. He is the Grendel (and Grendel's mother) of Jamestown. Some believe he isn't actually a player at all, but rather an experimental ingame NPC with his posts being made by jorb's brother, Donovan.
Anyways, another mistaken assumption are that there will be a final wipe before release. Ideally there will be no more wiping, last I heard. But if you want tips, it's play as much as humanly possible, gather characters to your side who are willing to die for you or what you stand for (these will be necessary not only to help defend your holdings but also to produce and gather materials to support both you and the group), get a stall or a network of buyers to supply you with much needed silver, grind those purities to make sure that you are producing exactly what you need to make sure you can continue to level the humours of yourself and your constituents, and, above all, always be ready to deal with people who want to take what you have. The above won't get you noticed politically (that takes forum posts by you, your supporters, and your enemies) if that's why you referenced Chief, Coles, and Darwoth, but it'll provide you with a solid foundation of power on a smaller scale as well as the opportunity to pursue gaining those sweet sweet humour levels.
