But that is a style of playing, I do appreciate the amount of grinding you do. It makes for good trading :D.

I did enjoy it.
Had some fields going and sorted out good seeds, planted the best ones from the crops, etc, and it went great.
Now it's just impossible because i am new and i have no way to make wood (let alone with purity) and i have no purity humus, so basically i am screwed for the time being until i level up proficiencies.
At that point i can get seed purity up to maybe 50% with a lot more work than you have had to put in to get 100%.
That's what's wrong.
Not that we don't want to, we can't anymore.
I, too, bought some good purity seeds. (don't sell them if you don't want newbs to have it "easy")
They went down from 90% to 0%!!
I'm afraid to plant anything at this point and the farming bit was the thing i had most fun with.

*chuckles*
Is it safe to come back in now? Have all the toys been thrown out of the prams and are we calming down a bit?
As I see it there are two paths to take in this game now.
If you arent really interested in the purity grind, the diffs on elements is not enough to really muck you up and humors of 100 are still easily reachable.
If you like the quality grind, you just got a whole new set of numbers to play with that should keep you occupied for a couple of months and when you do get that perfect tree, you will in fact deserve totally to be the god that you will be.

As I see it, the only downside is that there is no way, at present, to influence the purity values of static items like clay, lime etc.. which does lead you back into the old haven days of lucking out on the first day. I would be interested to know what sort of difference in purity people have found in minerals, herbs, water etc, cos if there are stupidly varying things lilke 70% water, then it does seem a little unfair, whereas if the differences are all around 5% then its going to be about planning and grinding more than luck.

I personally believe that if anyone is prepared to spend that much time on grinding, then they deserve the rewards.
And no, Im not a high humored high produce owner, I just think work should be rewarded.

since when is anyone supposed to be on even footing in an mmo? pretty sure the entire name of the game is advancing yourself to have an edge over the other guy, want even footing play an fps on a console with the rest of the teenagers.

There's an edge over the other guy, then there's this update. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that somebody that starts today should have the same chance with the same effort and time.

This game will cater to the older more hardcore players just like every other mmo that has come before it. The rule of any mmo is to get in early and exploit the bugs to your benefit to gain the upper hand before the nerf bat comes out. Developers are typically more interested in pay than play. This goes for just about any mmo out there. Get used to it.

what you are not grasping, yet STILL. is the fact that the new player that pops in and starts grinding purity gets to the same level in HALF of the ***** time because he grinds his seeds and trees at the same time. it is myself and the others that already put 2 months of seed grinding in that are taking it in the ass with this patch and its subsequent months of tree grinding, NOT the overly vocal newb population that do not know what their talking about.

As if we don't have to grind it now as well. Before water purity you couldn't do better than 50 alchemical value in gardening pots with all the purity humus in the world. So we can probably hit the effective tree purity cap a few generations earlier. Until then our humors are just as stagnant, and it is not as if we had stopped the gluttony just so you could all catch up in the first place. I'm sorry you couldn't get your 300+ humor characters in a few weeks, neither could we. Its also not as if we are all some sort of collective restricting if seeds get distributed or not, even if we did it doesn't negate the fact that you have the option to save you months of work which we did not. Now we get to save ourselves some time if we happen to have purity humus. You also have no idea what seed purity is currently possible even if they decided against further updates, which they've already specified are coming.

I agree that this new grind is extreme, I do wholeheartedly hope they alter things or introduce content that makes it much easier, but advocating to nerf all our humors to be on par with individuals who've played a fraction of the time... as much as I think entitlement is an overused and annoying term, it fits the description. So those of us who've played 5+ months have characters with 300+ humors, whose to say that won't be possible for you when you've been playing just as long?

I honestly believe that in this case the developers are more interested in play than pay, if they werent there would be a lot more items in the cash shop. Having played HnH and now Salem I really think that Jorbtar are trying to produce a 'good' game as opposed to a good income game.
But then I'm as naieve as hell, so whadda I know *chuckles

It all depends on which terms they work under from Paradox, but so far it seems like they have had free reins.

True Dat +1 for truth,

but this is an update not a bug fix. And it hits the new players right as it comes out of closed beta. It may hinder players joining or staying or committing leading to less money for the game.
