Postby Domgordo » Sat Mar 23, 2013 2:39 pm

I tried everythin that is shown here, including Java reinstall, stopping firewall, Java Cache cleaning, Changing of Java settings but nothing works. There is no logfile or anything. Only one message is shown.

What security software are you using? When I did a quick search on this, I was reminded that Comodo presented some issues in the past. There's a relatively simple fix for it, but I'll need to dig it out.

I found this on the Comodo forums:

http://forums.comodo.com/help-for-v3/ja ... 784.0.html

Specifically, you need to make sure that the "-xnosplash" command line option is used. There's a few ways of doing that. I'm not sure if any are simple. Someone posted a specific method so it is always set. Let me find it as I recall where it was at.

edit: Here's the link to the Paradox thread where the issue was first posted: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/sho ... ECV-failed

ok it looks i fixed it now (Game seems to loaad), i tried a lot of that thins but all seems not to work. Than i checked my comp and see more than one of the javaws.exe´s . Now isimply have done the follow, i startet the salem link, get the error message, but dont close them, switch to the comody firewall and go to the "add trusted software" panel and use "active Processes" , than i activated the javaws.exe currently used (i am stll dont know what exe it is now).

Now the Game seems to be load.

The javaws.exe is the process that loads the Salem files into Java's cache directory. Once the files are loaded, javaw.exe is used to run Salem.

If you have any other quesitons. Feel free to ask.
