Considering numbers haven't been published, it'd be nice to know who your source is. I'll grant that the game is seeing a solid income, though, if most of the posts around here are to be believed. (Must lub hats!)

I know of at least one game that stays afloat with only about 600-700 subs @ $14 USD per month (plus extras from pet sales and such), which I'll call around $8-10k USD per month. Given various expenses and the falling prices of high speed network connections over the last 20 years, I'd wager that an indie game could be considered profitable at around $7k-8k or a bit lower with only a couple of staff. If the staff are best buddies and split a house or apartment, why the needed income could go a bit lower yet.

Nobody should have to do research to be able to play a game (obviously folks who like the game already, like you and I, have no problem doing a little research. But the same isn't true for others who might otherwise like the game).

This isnt a ten minute while the dinner is cooking game... this is an experience. And thats what makes it special. I see a bear. Any other game I would just get in there and have a go because what the hell, just reload. I LOVE the fact that in this game I look at the bear and weigh up the odds.. (at the moment all in the bears favour btw) and think, nah, I need to practise, get stronger, learn better fighting techniques etc.. and that is just for KO's. I love the fact that everytime I go out the door, my world here could fall apart. And believe me I am not a PVPer.... barely a PVrabbiter.... but dont you dare take permadeath away. I want risk!

This would be accurate if there were no multi-accounts/alts. Alts give people the license to act retarded and not have the same consequences. They grind their main hard on all proficiencies and build a nice base to grow high purity crops and perhaps high purity metal if they want and then they create an alt and pump them full of all the top produce from their main and use this alt to commit the crimes and perform the risky behavior because pumping out these alts is going to be pretty easy for them when the main is growing high purity crops
