Its just a matter of time when will an organized group of players start the siege. Since we are talking about a hermit theres no way youll win. Sooner or later braziers will run out of fuel and walls will get destroyed. So the latter your place gets detected the better, you will have more time to grow and to prepair defences.

Not necessarily. Since the world map is updated, it is fairly easy to look for "dead spaces" that people will naturally migrate to. These areas probably have the type of settlements you are talking about. Any raider could easily stroll through these areas looking for exactly the type of people you spoke of, new people with poor defences. And they could attack them immediately, since the areas are not hidden.

I am not sure what do you mean with updated world map and dead spaces.
Anyway people will decide for them self whether to make walls and braziers on the first place they get or will look for a better spot and than build their defences.

Well lets say you want to make your own claim and want to be away from other people, so you look at the world map and see claims in areas, so you try to go in areas where there are no claims. But the map is not always updated often so people may have just moved in those areas. So a raider would go to those empty areas on the map and raid people who just set down their new claims.

They could do that but the map is huge and thers a lot of "dead spaces" you talk about. Raiders like to take as much stuff as thay can before they get killed. So why spend 3 days looking for a hermit that might have nothing worth of taking when they can raid 2-3 people a day in populated part of the world. In both cases they leave scents so if they piss of someone at least they took more stuff to make new raider...
Further more I am not saying dont build defences, what I am saying is that place selection is more important than you think. At least one will have more time to grow and build defences if he chooses were to settle more carefuly.

This is a lot of conjecture. Either situation can be true. From what I gather, there are players on Plymouth that wander around looking for settlements. I don't know how things run on other servers as they seem to not broadcast things like this as much. Either way, and again, there is never anywhere truly safe in this game unless you never leave the colony claim.

You are absolutely right. Theres always a chance that you will bi found, I prefear to lower that chance. Safety is also in numbers, but theres a question of trust.

The safe way is: Keep in low profile. Don't spot the map. look for a boring place. See if they have old keeper(So will be more rare to respawn a new player) Forest, Lime and coni is almost what every one is looking for. So stay away. If u find a good place, but already filled with a person, try to talk. and offer services. And stay away of his shed. With a good agreed you can survive with no time. But Nobody is sasfe from raid. So always keep the most values thing with you. With perm Death, Sometimes The only thing important is Your life.

I'm going to call this comment out for being total *****.

Using "autistic" as an insult isn't cool.
Someone should teach me how to play this game.
