When you send new tiles along, after settling and then exploring around your place, I guess you could just delete the tiles that reflect where exactly the tiles changed to show your claims

Ender's client has a heightmap overlay. It is a button above the minimap, with 2 settings...Transparent and full overlay. It is awersome.
