New Skills - Defence & Restoration -change-

Postby bloodcube » Fri Aug 24, 2012 6:28 pm

Hi there, today I came up with a new idea to improve Salem.
2 new Skills! Defence & Restoration

Effects:
-Defence: This would soak some damage you take. Not too much, just a little extra.
-Restoration: Food will restore your blood, phlegm, yellow and black bile faster.

Let me know what you think. This might be a stupid idea, but we'll see what you guys can make of it.
Thanks for your attention :)

Restoration would unbalance things pretty massively for larger villages. You could just pump this stat and barely need to eat anything. Noobs would be comparatively horribly off in that case. There are some nice foods designed to be used as restoration foods. Meat pies for farming towns, and berries on a straw / roasted chestnuts for beginners.

The implication of giving such a massive benefit to more established villages just seems unfair, but I definitely see where you're coming from.

As for defence, I think the devs aren't sure how much they want proficiencies to tie into combat. I've nothing really to comment there until the devs make up their mind in that regard.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

You sure are right. It would be pretty overpowered for large communities.
But this game still has alot of potential in updates ;)

One thought I had was giving a small benefit to heal values of foods cooked by people with high pots and pans skill. Same concept as yours, overpowered for larger communities. But at least it's splitting the power away from warriors who would need high defence skill anyway. That gives cooks a reason to exist :)

Imho, if those were skills and not proficiences, they may be actually good and they wouldn't risk to be too overpowered.

Changed it to skills. Now it's not too overpowered and accually nice to have :)
Thanks for that suggestion ;)
