Yes, it's a bit of a derail. I spotted this earlier, but didn't say anything as it was a bit of a natural flow in the conversation of a particular "scalping." As long as it stays relevant, we're allowing it. Where we get picky about it was when the discussion of the treaty wanders into nearly every thread about Plymouth.

I had a little conversation with this player a few days ago.

...our hard earned silver will get us anything but on your tribesmen radar, at which time they can attack at their will all while you sit idly by most likely claiming they had no relation to the tribe. It sounds like more of a risk than a benefit to me and my kin.

Our location is remote, we walked for many days to find our harsh little plot of land, and we've yet to see another person wandering near our camp. Your "protection" just seems like it would alert your tribe to our quiet little corner of Plymouth.

Basically, he believed the lies that some people like to perpetuate on these forums that there is some kind of "negative" to the Treaty. As such he refused payment. His skeleton shall serve as yet another reminder to the people of Plymouth that if your payment is delinquent it is not a matter of IF you will grace my scalp thread with your presence. But a matter of WHEN.
