why should we have to wear a mask for a bad mechanic? More worthless silver sinks/grinding to reset your face to look normal isn't a way to justify this.

You mean worthless like chairs, tables, houses, paving, etc. It is a decent fluff mechanic for those who enjoy that.

If your going to say its bad for game, please illuminate us as to why you feel this way...

Maybe you should learn about the devs. With your system you know exactly who is a criminal and who isn't. That takes the mystery out of game play with others

You would perhaps know if a character has done a lot of criminal acts lately, but through the introduction of this mechanic, it would be far easier to get close to intended targets: they would be far less suspicious of fresh murder alts.

Well, If I were to implement it myself, I would start by thinking about setting it up so that you could burn off your "crime face" or what not, pretty quickly (Days, weeks) depending on how much and how bad of crimes you do. If you are a habitual criminal/murderer, you would be branded as such after too long. If you are a part time thief, you may be able to shrug off the effects with a couple of days atonement. For the players that are habitual life criminals, these are the characters that SHOULD be more notorious and easier to spot for a newb. Perhaps giving said newb the vital time he needs to get inside his makeshift fence, grab his 2 iron bars, and log out to safety. I do not think the system should be too sticky, as in, always representing criminals all the time. But more, something good people could strive for, maybe making there be some small amount of grind to get to the happiest face. Criminals would either have to balance their facial debuff, or deal with looking like the rough and tough marauders they are. I think its a fun idea, not sure how hard to implement. Others have had both positive and negative feedback...

--Also, there is some nice room for criminal manipulation of the system. If a determined criminal wanted to, they could grind up a happy toon, and use that toon to try and infiltrate a town. This would take time and work however, and would be something else to juggle as a raider.
