Just watched "Lola Rennt" (English title: Run, Lola, run) and I still absolutely love it. One of the best German movies in my book. The film's story isn't that complex or special (The girl needs to save her boyfriend from getting killed by thugs by coming up with 100.000 Mark within 20 minutes), but the way in which it's presented and how that ties in with the theme (butterfly effect, choice, coincidence vs fate) is really good.

I was told about this film awhile ago, I kept meaning to watch it but it was coming up to christmas, I was busy and I completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. :D (I loved the Butterfly Effect, though not the 2nd one.)

Ted -
I thought it was dreadful, though I did laugh twice, once at the start and once when I wasn't supposed to. :) I hadn't read anything about it as I knew it wasn't my thing and I had no interest in it. I knew it had a talking bear and was considered funny but I was under the impression it was a kids film, lol, with light adult humour - so I spent the first 15 minutes being quite surprised as i'm sure you can imagine.

@ Dallane - Looper was a good film, it made me think of Twelve Monkeys, another one of my favorites. I haven't seen Lawless yet but it's on my list. :)

I recently saw Mr Nobody. Really great movie!

Django Unchained exceeded my expectations too. I didn't hype it at all and watched it in the cinema this weekend. Great, great movie.
I never managed to figure out something clever for my signature on Paradoxplaza, and I doubt I'll do it here either.

I loved Django right up until the end, I thought it was a really stupid end. threw away so much just because of pride.

Not to spoil anything but what was stupid about the end?

DJANGO UNCHAINED SPOILERS IN HERE
Do you mean the end as in the fighting scene where he goes nuts or where do you define "the start of the end"? I liked it to be honest. He gets some kind of revenge, the bad guys die and the hero rides away in the sunset. It's fun to see a Tarantino movie end like that.

I mean that they got his wife as they planned, only difference is that it cost they more money than expected. Which they could easily make back being bounty hunters. And then what happens? He basicly commits collective suicide because the guy wants to shake his hand. Completly disregarding that Django and his wife probably also would die in the process, instead of just shaking his hand and taking his revenge another day

More Django spoilers
Ah, I see. I think it's very related to the "sub plot" of the film that is about slavery. The German guy goes from mildly neutral in the subject to sacrificing his life to kill the baddest of slavers. As far as I could gather this represents what a lot of Americans went through in that time. Sure - it might not have been the most clever of moves. But in all honesty not all people are capable of turning off their emotions in order to give room for reason. I agree with you that it was a very dumb move, but letting it ruin the film for you is silly.

It's like not being able to watch drama because "they are just creating problems"...

Eh. I just realized that this is exactly why I don't watch drama.

Still. I loved, or at least liked very much, the movie in its entirety.

Except he wasnt even one of the "baddest" slavers, he wasnt sadistic and he even had a friendship with Stevens, the only extraordinarily "evil" thing about him was his slave fighting. And the german guy wasnt forced into a corner, his wife wasnt raped or some such. It. was. a. handshake. It should not be a far stretch to give a handshake in order to save the life of yourself and all your friends and to ensure you had vastly better chances of revenge.

To make the movie better in my head I just imagine the slaver killed the german guy after he found out the betrayal, and Django somehow excaped and avenged his death.

Amazingly, many, many parents and grandparents thought the same thing only to be surprised when they went to get tickets with their kids (or unfortunately actually made it into the theatre...).

And such is life. How many great stories have ended in such a way over the centuries and yet people still don't figure it out?

Django was a great movie, however I wasn't too keen on how much the N-word was thrown around.
It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9/NIV

I am a proud Christian, post this if you are proud to be one too.
