If you want to argue that, however, I think you want to argue the HS-spawns should be possible to do with a mere leanto, rather than a full claim, not that it should be purchasable with silver.

The only reason we did that was as an anti-griefing measure, and it is certainly arguable that the benefits do not outweigh the downsides. I don't quite know, to be honest.

Interface menu with leantos. Automatically left unchecked, but if checked the leanto claim interface allows hearth spawning. Heck, I'd like to see this on the regular claim as well. I don't want to give out my HS and potentially get alt griefed.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

This would be great.

That's a great idea, Sevenless. Simple in design, too (not sure about getting it coded into the server, but I can think of harder things to add in that probably wouldn't be anywhere near as effective.)

The need to go out and forage to buy survival skills (or have someone drag curios to an alt) does cut down on the speed someone can alt spam someone. Enough that a player could potentially change a HS and break the lean-to of the player that just spawned on/near the person so they couldn't spawn at their own alt (assuming one could use the free wilderness transport to spawn at a lean-to). Of course, putting some limit to the number of active character per account would help, too, but I'm not sure I want to see the game go that direction. It's always annoyed me, but I've understood the reason why. Here, there aren't the same issues.

+1

Currently walking the 3 hours to my friend. Refuse to lose this char as I now have Prospecting and Quarrying.

Ah, that wasn't the exploit I was referring to, though. My thoughts were rather than claims are much more controlled in how they place new leantos and cannot overlap with others' claims and such things.

Have you considered allowing people to port to the leanto without making a new homestead? Somehow allowing the leanto ported to to act as a multi accessed claim until a new homestead is claimed?

It's the only workaround that seems to solve the issue you mentioned and allows people to use leantos to port to.

That sounds a little tough to do. Having multiple people with owner rights on the same claim, leanto or claimstake sounds like a recipe for disaster. However the Checkbox for allowing homestead spawning is exactly what's required. Just make the leanto's place a little further from each other, a similar system to what is in place at he moment for HnH hearthing.

Why not let the person porting place a leento as soon as they arrive, like you do through the build menu. When you show up you have the see through leento on the cursor and until It's placed you have no clip just like when you enter a building with someone standing there. Once they place it, if they were in an object they first steps out they resume normal collision with objects.

Or they are given the items to build a leento in their inventory and immediately teleported. If they don't have room they get an error message and can not use the hs travel until they clear space.
