The field thing requires a fair amount of work to fix the way we want to fix it, and we haven't considered it a priority since we don't think it's that big of a deal.

The auth-obj fortress hasn't been a practical problem until very recently, and we will fix it next patch.

I believe I know for a fact that the lean-to method you describe wasn't actually used by Chief, but I'll have a look at it either way.

As for me being too friendly with people, you can hit me up on IRC anytime. ;)

I can save you the trouble, and confirm he never used the lean-to method to get inside what seemed a 100% indestructible vault.

Evidence can be provided if required to prove the innocence of chief in this particular incidence, however it is innocent until proven guilty from what i understand.

However, i would love to see if you "look at it" at people who do actually openly bug abuse, and even brag about it, and brag about being untouchable, like in the recent darworth incident, and ban accordingly beta testing is fun.

If you think its not a big deal, that player A, can have x16 more farms in the same space as Player B, and the endless other pros with come with the 1x1 farming, something is wrong with your priorities.

ill give a short little incomplete list of how this unbalances the game.

Player A, has the 1x1 mod, Player B does not.

Player A, now can have x16 more farms, in the same space as player B
Player A, now can farm endless fields inside a mine(another bug????), thus reducing claim upkeep to almost non existent levels.
Player A, can farm x100 more effectively, because travel time is massively reduced due to farms all being compact.

If you cannot see the game breaking differences here between player A + player B, who play the same amount of time, yet because of a modded client, Player A has untold huge advantages, and its "not that big of a deal" in your eye. Well im gob-smacked to be honest. And such game models / attitudes towards what many see as game breaking abuse is so bad imo.

The way I figure it you either play competitively, in which case you know all about field stacking and use it yourself to the extent that you're willing to take the risk of losing all the stacked fields when we eventually do fix the bug, or you play casually, in which case it doesn't matter. It isn't intended behavior, but it's not a big deal.

"But that argument could be made about any bug!"

Well, yeah, sure. A bug is really only a big deal when it has the potential for extremely swingy, volatile and/or negative behaviors and interactions for affected players. This bug doesn't affect anyone negatively.

Player A uses 1x1 fields
Player B does not

Both players have the same gameplay knowledge, play the same amount of time, yet Player B feels that use of player made modded clients is wrong and abusive of a game.

Due to the 1x1 field, Player A farms x16 more, meaning he reaches 100 biles way before player B.

Player A, rapes Player B's base.

If that is not effecting Player B in a negative way, then well i would like to know what is going on inside your head. Yes that is the nature of the game, but 1x1 fields has influenced power shift which should never have happened.

So by definition with Salem + your current attitude as devs towards your own game (Modded client + bug abuse = Win) and its all allowed / above board, and it will never stop, Some amazing game model you have here. Nothing like this will ever work in a commercial launch.

You do realize you can stack fields even without a 1x1 client mod? The mod just makes it look better.

EEEEE! Wrong, wrong, wrong. If they do then the bug is equally available to both of them. If they aim to play competitively they need to make the effort to learn how the game operates, whether its operations are ultimately intended or not.
