cant log back in without losing everything

So, even if someone is in a boat in shallow water you lose items if you log out/get disconnected because you can't log back in on shallow water?!

If that's the case then this sounds like a really stupid flaw in the game.

I think it pops you out of the boat in shallow water because you can stand there. Since the game tries to put your character and the boat on the same tile, you end up in this situation. Had you been in deep water, you would have been in the boat when you logged back in because you can't stand in deep water. Every time I've gotten disconnected while in a boat I was in deep water and was in the boat when I logged back in. The only time I've been able to log back in with something in the way and not drop my inventory was when I crashed while porting back to my lean-to. Apparently having your lean-to in the way is the only exception to the rule. I crashed once while going through the gate on my claim. I had to drop my inventory to log back in because the gate was technically in my way even though it was open. Half of the stuff that got dropped ended up in the walls. These things happen.

I had such a task just making the boat with all the stealing going on.....guess this time I'm gone till launch and wipe...if there is one.

good luck to the one who finds my stash at my old mine, and my boat. (although when someone steals the boat...guess the spot will no longer be occupied)

well, much to my pleasant surprise...I logged in to see if anyone had taken the boat, which would have also freed up the spot, and bingo...I was in the boat...must have been a glitch, or Devs helped...either way, I'm back in the exploring business

Seems I spoke too soon :/ I was crossing a samll shallow place that changed elevation, even though both were shallow, and boat dissappeared out from under me...had it loaded with supplies O.O

I'm gonna need to change title of post to "never ending saga" it would seem

Seems that your boat decayed. You have to repair those(with coal atm till something else gets implemented)
Damaged object gets more and more red.

yeah, havent had it but a day...seems a bit harsh to wearout that soon, considering the hassle and expense to make it. A decay indicater would have been nice as well. This has become an exercise in frustration, I can see it's not for me...I want to enjoy my playtime...not fight and struggle at every turn. thieves..decay..maintenance fees..wait times....yuck...you guys and gals have fun....

Boats can only sail around a few hours before they wear out. They turn more and more red though, so there is a decay indicator.

You can put a chest full of coal in the boat's cargo space. That way you can row to the shore and repair it whenever you need to.

I'm sorry to hear this game's become too frustrating for you. I can certainly understand, a lot of the game's mechanics seem to conspire to make life hard for us players.
