Day 54: New Alcohol Part 1
I didn't play Concord so I don't know what Alcohol did, but I assume it was unbalanced if it didn't make it to Providence. This might step on old Alcohol or be completely different.
I see Alcohol as needing to have a positive side and a negative side but also still be worth making and despite that negative.
4 major types of Alcohols: Vodka made from Potatoes, Ciders made from Fruits, Moonshine made from Corn, Wine made from Grapes.
1 minor type of alcohol, Beer made from Barley.
Alcohols decrease the drain/damage for one bile while increasing the drain/damage for 1 other type.
Cider decreases blood drain while increasing yellow bile drain.
Vodoka decreases phlegm drain while increasing black bile drain.
Moonshine decreases yellow bile drain while increasing blood drain.
Wine decreases black bile drain while increasing phlegm drain.
There are 3 states to this buff. The first is Buzzed, drinking up to 50% effectiveness. Drinking up to 60%
Drink 6 - 10 sips will be Drunk. Each sip increases the buff's potency by 10%.
Unlike other buffs this buff's effectiveness wears down over time, so it can't be refreshed only added to. However even as the Buff wears down it does not change the Buzzed/Drunk distinction. If you drink any major alcohol while under the Drunk buff it will automatically start you at 50%.
The Third state Delirium Tremens. This state increases your drain on all biles until it wears off. Only getting Buzzed will not cause Delirium Tremens when the buff wears off but getting drunk will. Additionally any time you drink more than one Major Alcohol it will cancel your buff, cause you character to vomit, and cause Delirium Tremens.
Drinking Beer, the Minor Alcohol, will not add to your buff, instead if you drink Beer while under the Drunk buff, it will prevent you from going into Delirium Tremens for 1 hour for each sip.
Example of how this all works, cause I'm having trouble explaining these interactions:
You drink 5 sips of Vodka and you lose 50% less phlegm say while running or digging or chopping wood, but lose 50% more black bile when placing structures or studying. At this point you
At this point you have the Buzzed buff. It will go away over time and will not cause DTs. However drinking a 6th sip, either at the start or to refresh the buff will cause you to lose 60% less phlegm, but 60% more black bile but now you have the Drunk buff. Letting this buff expire will cause DTS. However if you drink a sip of Beer it will prevent DTs and keep your Drunk Buff active. Drinking another hard alcohol while your Drunk Buff is active but at 0% will instantly put you at 50% effectiveness for whatever hard alcohol you drank, and as long as the Drunk buff was at 0%, there is no penalty for mixing alcohols.
