Plenty _ farming plots

Crows can lower plenty on farm plots, and possibly curses too.
...So how do I efficiently raise plenty after planting ?

Dross was recently nerfed down from 200 to 125 speed for the first application.

crows don't lower plenty iirc just 600 upkeep but even then, it is fixed with humus and a potato chunk and goes back to 100
only way to protect them is glass scarecrow or store scarecrow but they can be bought from other players for 2-5k or so

...So here is where I am now:

After I planted, all farm plots were at 100+ plenty, averaging around 127 plenty.
Next day all down to around 60-70 plenty... Witch curse ?

I have two active fields, one with 16 plots, the other with 20 plots.
After I drop one bone meal on the first plot, all other plots with plenty below 70% in the same field will not receive any bone meal.

Each plot has been treated with 1 coal, 1 dross, 1 saw dust, 1 turkey droppings, and pre-treated with required amount of humus too.
EDIT: The 16 plot field now has scarecrow coverage too.

I thought coal gave an increase in speed, but a decrease in plenty? I can't seem to raise the wiki right now, but that might explain your plenty loss. When you apply the coal, do you see some floating numbers, something like speed +15%, plenty -15%, or so?

I may have planted lower purity seeds than the plot's purity is, would that lower plenty too ?

No farm fields purity can only raise or destroyed with salt
