So... Dev's, what about those Animals?

Postby Claeyt » Wed Apr 12, 2017 1:10 am

So are we ever going to be getting animals on Providence Dev's? They stated in announcements months ago that we'd have a way to get animals if Darwoth refused to sell them. Apparently Darwoth conned everyone and castrated the animals he traded or sold so there's still no way to get animals on Providence.

+ good chance they are castrated and wont do crap
+ dropping 7-8 wool every now and then wich u can "sheer" of them (the wool for 100s off stalls)
+ drops sheep manure, a excellent fertilizer

pm offer.

So I'd like to hear from the Dev's on why they're wasting this entire game mechanic they probably spent weeks if not months making? Why just let the animal mechanic just die and not implement them on Providence? You said that if Darwoth refused to sell them you'd make another way for players to get them. Can we get an answer on this or is this just done? No animals, ever?

He is selling them. As far as language goes he is fulfilling what he needs to do.

Questionable means of implementing a mechanic imo. Give one player a monopoly because he won the expedition. This player can choose to castrate animals before selling them thus making breeding inaccessable to the majority of players (unless someone somehow steals a breeding pair or Darwoth gives his friends breeding pairs).
Regardless of the language used, this is problematic, and should be fixed.

From a business standpoint it would make sense to open up a mechanic that would make the game more enjoyable and require the person to log in and play. Monopolys as well are no bueno for any potential new players. "Hey dose this game have animals for farming?" "Sure, only its exclusive to one player." That dosnt sell.

Taking a huge advantage by being the first sure, rightfully deserved, but the casteation part and esc is a real bummer. This is a game breaking mechanic to not be circulated.

No, we never said that we'd give you another way to get animals. John has said in the past that MAYBE we would sell them in the shop if no one managed to get them to Providence, but then we just decided that if none of you wanted to bother with the ark, we'd give animals to the winning witch, problem solved. Animal products and animals are still accessible to the players through Darwoth. You can buy from him or you can get off your asses and go raid him, steal his animals, and spread them all over the server. The ark probably would have been easier, but you all made the decision, now you get to live with it.

rand a guy that has a char with 5000 in each bile and 23 chars with +1500 in each bile? not even if the whole server teamed up with each other it would be possible.

Lol, as long as you think that, I guess his animal monopoly is safe.

And what do you say to new players who didn't understand what popham was/didn't have the opportunity to play on popham? Is this game solely for the experienced/veterans?

JC absolutely said there would be another way to get animals on Providence. He said that he would make it difficult but he did say that if Darwoth refused to sell animals (and in this case actual breeding animals and using the mechanic is what we're talking about) that he would find another way to distribute them.

It's not impossible to raid Darwoth, but Heff is right. It would take an immense amount of players to attack any base like Darwoth's or Heffernan's for that matter. I disagree with his bile guesses as JC has stated the numbers back in January and no one has 5000. I don't even think Darwoth has 3000 like Kuku's pit fighter even. That's not the point.

The point is that this is supposed to be a basic mechanic of the game. Animals were supposed to be a mid to late game mechanic. From what I played with them on Popham it's exactly that. They were fun to grow, and breed. It was another chore but not to bad. What it wasn't supposed to be was an absolutely impossible raiding event just to get this mechanic in the game. You're absolutely bull ***** us with "Go raid Darwoth" over and over again and it doesn't work any more Tmeow. Building the Ark was a bad mechanic. I respect that Darwoth won Popham and he worked for it. He clearly has more time than most of us to play this game. If any other player had the time to put into this like he did then they could have challenged him but clearly no one playing this game did.

The other real problem I have with how this has been rolled out on Providence is that ONLY Darwoth has animal meats to glutton with so far unless we PAY Darwoth for meat. Why is this not being fixed before it gets out of hand with balance issues for the game?

Frankly Tmeow I don't want to hear from you anymore. You're wrong more than you're right about stuff lately and we need to hear from JC and Marp on this. Why aren't they here anymore?

Hey dumb ***** she gets her information directly from JC/Marp.

JC never confirmed that there would be a way to get animals he only said he was thinking about it. It's your own fault for not getting animals.
