When will this be updated with the newest patch? Getting "This client is too old" when trying to use Enders.

Just going to have to be patient and wait for ender to update it.

Time to fire up the rusty old "hacking about with code you don't understand" skills...

Well, I got as far as snagging the gits for both Ender's and Seatribe's clients, setting up a JDK and IDE... and then realized I'd need to track down the JOGL stuff to compile, thus promptly running out of "Give A *****". It's 0145 here, my brain decided to quit for the night.

The reason the developers don't make Ender's client the default is that they would then have buy it from Ender and take over it's development. How much of their limited time do we want to lose to fancy client feature development.

The alternative would be to give the custom client developers access to the client (and server) changes before they are released and not release any change until the clients are updated. Thus making the new feature and bug fix release scheduling dependent on people who make the custom clients as a hobby (out of love for the game and the fun of making them) but who actually have a life outside of Salem software development.

I understand that; however, let's say ender's decides to take a week to do the update. That's a week I'll probably spend minimal time on the game. That in turn is never good for a game like this as things get stolen, upkeep still needs to be made, ect ect ect. So it could lead to frustration and quitting the game which, if done in large numbers, mean the game dies.

Personally, I'd rather be in control of my own destiny with a game like this. You don't have to make it as good as enders, just make it "playable".

As far as the radar being OP, I sorta agree. Players with radar will out perform players without radar in just about any way (Survivability, finding good loot, ect ect). That being said I live very near a maple forest and all I can say is just try spotting mushrooms without radar. I'd only be able to spot maybe 1/10 of them without it and that would again lead me to just give up or make maple forests just something to avoid. Even with radar and entirely zoomed in I have a hard time spotting mushrooms on a red floor. Devil's wart is the same thing. If my "Character" sees it because of a good skill or high proficiencies that it should at least be easy or at worst moderately difficult for me to spot, not impossible.

I'm not going to debate whether it's hard or not to see the items on the ground. Well all know it is. However, I have horrible eyesight and it's strain enough trying to find these items. If players think it's unfair that I myself are using a legal program there's a very simple way to fix it. Download it and experience how much better Ender's client is. But, I myself can't play without it. Even with the Ender client on I don't have a massive advantage over most people, I find it amazing that people in town can afford the 10,000 silver stalls and I myself are using the Ender client. To understand how bad my eye sight is, I'll tell you that I have 6 scars on each of my eyes. My eye doctors say it's a miracle that I could even see (I'm only 23 btw). They state that I have thee worst eyes they've seen in their 30 years of work. On the brighter side I'm a prime candidate for lasik eye surgery :) . If only I could afford it. But, thanks to Enders radar I don't have to glare at the ground looking for these items.

i don't get it: what's the dependency between 10.000 stalls and the client?
