how about we restrict the cold stuff to snowy mountains?

No challenge = no fun.
It is about providing means and knowledge to deal with the challenge not about removing it.

What about very low level cloak, e.g. leafy cloak with no slots and 2 thermal value using 20 "any leaves" and some strings ? It can give some "stealth" like cougars have as a bonus.
What about moving initial robes position to jacket slot, leaving space for a jute shirt.
Jacket and cloak are two most difficult items to craft as a newbie (comparing to jute clothes) and most new people have no idea that priestly robes can go into jacket slot.

Hmm.
I too, worry about how newer players will deal with the cold. The game already has a relatively steep learning curve, and with a new mechanic like this I think it may take away from their learning experience while they focus on staying warm. I just hope this will not drive them away.

the challenge is supposed to stay on mountains tho.

How did we even end up on selling bodies from a cold update? That's a big jump! XDD

The tutorial about the cold could provide you a cup with some hot broth left. With that you could survive a bit and it's less exploting than a cape, since you have to do the tutorial and that's quite more boring than boil some water.

How do you thaw once frozen? I had fires put all around me and my Hypothermia number went all the way up to 93 but the block of ice remains and I am a level 5 crazy!

Is it me or the icon for shellfish trap is gone from the crafting menu ?
Cant even find it on my main? (100% i am not missing any skills)

Why hypothermia does not cause disease? This would make diseases more common because not all live in the darkness with rats.
