Has anyone had boards show any adjustment to purity from oiling yet?

Placed a timber pile in the middle of nowhere, closest object was a drying frame 17 tiles away, no trees, stumps, structures, nothin.
Still only got 7 dry boards and 33 moldy useless wood... Am I missing something? Do forageables that pop up around the area count as objects?

What about fields? They do count as objects.

I have placed timber piles 5 tiles away from walls and trees and they gave only dry boards. I have also placed timber piles 4 tiles from wall and from tree and it produced like 20% of moldy boards.

Also, timber pile with containers and tree logs right near it, but no wall or field within 5 tiles produced only dry boards as well.

To be specific - when I say 5 tiles away I mean that there were exactly 5 tiles between tile I put pile on, and a tile with wall / tree. So final distance is a bit smaller, since piles are bigger than 1 tile

Lol, the more I read about and experiment with timber piles the more it seems like it's completely random and the tooltip is just there to confuse and frustrate us.

Are you sure you had no fields / buildings / other piles / walls / construction signs / fires within 5 tiles from your pile? At any point during those 5 days?

Nothing that was built by me, and nothing that I noticed. The only possibility would be if someone built a fire or something near it on the edge of my property near the timber pile and it burnt out/got taken down before I saw it (which is pretty unlikely considering I stay online for an unhealthy amount of time).

There does seem to be a huge degree of randomness. I had a pile give 40/40 dry boards, and another with the exact same spacing gave 17/40.

Wait wait wait. Ledge? Are you telling me ledges cause mold growth? That never even occurred to me, although it's still around 8 or 9 tiles away from a ledge, is that enough? Would flattening the land and getting rid of the ledges decrease mold?
