i'm going to try and keep an eye on that channel, hopefully next time I can catch it :)

I'm wondering: what kind of equipment do you use ? I tried my hand at pixel art a while back (not nearly as nice as yours!) but I ended up hating doing it with my mouse - i much prefer sketching in pencil.
Do you have one of those drawpads? They're not too expensive so I figured I'd try one of those. Any pointers on the choice?
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I have a cintiq 13 now, but a few years ago i used this https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... PC_edition)_(2006).jpg
What i really need is a screen under my pencil, since i suck with graphic tablets.

About pixel art, it depends. If the resolution is small (36x36 or 16x16), mouse is the best choice. A pen would create useless pixels everywhere and you would spend your time cleaning here and there too much.

But for a pixel art that big as the ones i'm working on, the mouse can be a bit boring. I use both. Depends on what i'm doing and how lazy I am. (sometime i find boring to grab the cintiq when not strictly needed).

An hint to control your mouse better (on photoshop) is to use the shift button. Click a point with the mouse, keep shift old and click another point. The shift will connect the two points. Play a bit with it to understand how it works, to avoid unwanted connected lines.
I use this to create straight lines that aren't strictly horizontal or vertical. It saves a lot of time in the long run and most of the shadows in my pixel art are from mouse + shift.

Well, that cintiq is somewhat out of my price range :) Thanks for the hints.

yeah i'm aware of the shift option.
I've been playing with aseprite recently (which is open source, even if their website doesn't seem to advertise it); it's a pretty nice program for pixel art and animation, even though I'm not really a fan of the pixelated interface. It makes it pretty darn easy to control/limit/change your palette while you're working.
