You can't decide what's fun for others. To me, join a new server and mass-product stuff like a drone is zero fun, so i don't use a minute of my time for a task that i would not enjoy that much.
For others, that could be fun, but also a deep unbalancing of the actual system, so maybe they don't care to change their way to play.
This situation will go on for ages if you don't choose what you want to do with Your time spent on this development.
Drop it and delete the animals, or plan a new quest that's is less blackmailing.
Says the person who has played on providence a total of 3 or 4 times for a length of about two or three hours in the last three months. OR to put it another way, you are complaining about something in a game you don't really play.
Getting players involved is a neat idea, but as we can see here, it doesn't work. You look at early access games, that doesn't work either because all players do with that is ***** and moan that the game they are getting isn't finished, it requires zero effort. Trying to get them to actually have some real tangible input on feature implementation, like we have here, doesn't work because ***** and moaning is so much easier.
