Are distances like this the norm then? It was lucky as hell that the whale I found dropped me off only a couple tiles from shore.

You cant drop a canoe while swimming, and even with high biles and Long Distance Swimming + Tea, making it to shore is pretty hard to do..

My guess is that its a team effort, 2 or more people go out to find a whale, one jumps in while the other rows along with the whale, the inside guy does his thing and gets **** out, swims to the first guy and climbs on to the boat.

But, as a Hermit.. Whales are pretty hard to tackle.. was that intended?

This method was exactly how I imagined 'whale hunting' would go. I thought it would be a fun thing where the guy in the boat is Pming his friend in the whale to see if he is about to exit or not.

i have hunted about 6-7 whales solo now, and only KOd twice on high sea and have 5 1/2 sheds of ambergris drying i think it depends on luck and also only hunting them near shores.

you get the sound, right, whenever you spot a whale? in that case you could just zoom way out on your minimap and have it afk-boat, until you hear one.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
