You are a massive idiot if you really think this. 100% not the problem at all.

It is "part" of the problem. Albeit not the only problem with PvP/Raiding.

I mean, imagine if you are out exploring/foraging/just not in base for any reason and someone shows up on the map.

Well, guess I'll just run and completely ignore this ******* because if that ******* really wants to get back at me even if I do not kill him, he will probably Townbell my claim or spend his time to break through the wall I made. I mean, I guess I could Townbell the scents and guard it but that is a waste of ***** money. ALL OF THIS COMPLICATED **** FOR SOME RANDOM ***** WHO PASSED BY, GARHROFA:LBSDWEsfsjvnl, and don't even get me started on getting sent to the stocks and being diseased or just **** out of luck because you cannot play that character now just cause of little **** brawl you had with said *******"

Now do you see what is wrong with PvP?

Knocking a player out does not leave summonable scents.

So it won't...

Stealing from a knocked out body and/or murder will though. You have to assume the enemy on your map will do both to you.
So if you want to get even remotely any spoils of war you have to commit summonable crimes of theft. Sure you may get the crap they were carrying in their inventory, but its just crap.

PvP is pointless because of summoning. To avoid any summonable crimes would mean that the battle you just had was indeed pointless. Time to stick to the "run away option there is some random ******* after me"

Ransom can be extorted.

To the extent that people expect the "worst" they lose is possibly some amount of silver but not the character or their equipment, that gives the victorious party a prize, and keeps the loser "not dead" and with what is on them, safe at home. (Aside from damage to the bank account).

The person doesn't have to take your offer of course, and there has to be some general assumption that you can "get out" of an encounter with another player basically just with the worst being a mugging, basically.

If people who have tested or experienced this system more would chime in I assume it has distinguishing features from "normal" exchanges I.E. Theft, etc.

Because if it lets you port people home at the expense of whatever their offer for ransom is, without anything worse than the usual "fight" scents, then it works somewhat well for everyone involved. Better than not getting anything for beating up people trespassing in your territory/that insulted you/you don't like their face, better for hapless or mischievious explorers and petty thieves that don't want to die or lose their clothes, but can live with losing silvers. (It would have to be some because if it's comically low they might not take it, but if it was really high that would be painful for you and tie up a lot of silver in the bank.)

Everything you said is wrong and has nothing to do with why people don't pvp. I'm sorry that you are a ***** but that has nothing to do with whats wrong.

Don't bother posting pointless **** counter-arguments with no points to back it up.
You quoted one post of the two I made before you replied, and the second one clearly states why people would have no need to PvP.
(Silver is so abundant now that ransoming is also pointless)

I'm sorry you have no idea how this game functions. You are aware that there is a game almost identical to this one that has much harder retaliation for pvp correct? Said game has constant action without people worrying about leaving scents. As I said before stop being a pansy.

Silver isn't pointless as you see juda and heff cream themselves to get more of it constantly.

The main point of PvP, if we're going to derail on this, is that you want to kill/maim/KO the other guy for fun. Or you want to steal his things. Or you have a beef with him for political reasons. Or you're raiding and you need to get him out of the way or otherwise are KOing or killing him for defensive reasons. Or yeah, maybe you want the silver ransom. Or maybe you want to publicly humiliate him by making him post something on the forums to get you to let him go. There are a million reasons to PvP in Salem, and if you don't like any of them, then I guess maybe you have no reason to PvP. That doesn't mean the reasons are invalid. You can't really blame Dallane for not wanting to list all these reasons yet again since PvP pros and cons has been discussed so many times in threads where it isn't a derail.

Now, let's please get back to the subject at hand.

J/s if someone wants to find you they probably will. (Regardless of you dropping unsummonable scents or not)
