I have to disagree with you on the mining bit. I was line-mining on level 6, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of boulders in a day, at not even 7 phlegm apiece with a very crappy mining suit. After mining thousands of tiles I had found 5 separate, medium-small to very large black tile patches and waited a few weeks and mined hundreds and hundreds more boulders to up my cave-down chance before I chipped at the first one. Now I'm on level 7 and I have 4 more dark tile patches remaining when I mine out the corners of this one.

So, basically, "I got mine"--no pun intended. I'm not posting out of bitterness. I wouldn't be revealing that I have a juicy mine if I hadn't been planning to roll out high % metals soon anyway.

But this is absolutely crippling to new miners. I feel really sorry for them. I would almost tell a hermit to not mine for the first six months or so they play, maybe three if they're hardcore.

Hell, economically, it would benefit me if the system stayed the way it is, but it seems unfair.

I know the patch just landed. I'm not trying to add to the pile of gripes that inevitably follows; I just want to flag the issue for eventual review.

Looking forward to the new features!

Actually, there is nothing to warrant such an increase in phlegm cost, it only cripples new miners, which is whimsical, as you WILL need months to get to halfway decent levels anyways, NOT even counting in this direct and severe nerf to mining, like others, I don't mind it much myself, but for any halfway new player this is devastating, and the "added learning effect of forced gobbling up" does not really outweight anything here.

On another note, back on Roanoke I remember food being not something you just threw around, whereas you would have to take a bit of a care to always have enough in stock except you had high % which we did not those days,
now it is kinda... abundant, I'd say it would be good to have especially higher stuff restore less, and a general add of phlegm (or other humors) cost to most things is good, too, like for making wrought iron, it just adds to the feel of not living in luxury but actually working to survive, even though that is never true for any halfway established pilgrim.
(The removal of fish from fishtraps does not change much here for the newer players as you can still fry crawdads for a very cheap source of regen.)

But raising the phlegm cost for simple mining well above the average 2-3 weeks old players humors is kinda... bad.
The bats alone would already take care of all too eager lowbie miners in deeper levels.

I've been cricketing around for like 2 hours now and haven't found anything. Do the events appear on minimap or do you get a system message if you found one?

I mined one boulder extremely close to the ladder (not that location matters, but it's one less thing to wonder about) wearing a facsimile of a suit readily attainable by a new miner.

112 Mining
38 Productivity

Level 1: One boulder costs 7.6 Phlegm
Level 2: One boulder costs 13.2 Phlegm
Level 3: One boulder costs 22.7 Phlegm
Level 4: One boulder costs 30.2 Phlegm
Level 5: One boulder costs 37.8 Phlegm
Level 6: One boulder costs 47.3 Phlegm
Level 7: One boulder costs 52.9 Phlegm

And yeah, yeah, I know you should have a better suit by the time to get to level 7, but this is just for illustration of a point.

Turn your sound on... I heard music, and panned around and found a gingerbread house on the screen.

Lol I found it 30 seconds after making the post. I gave up and turned around, and surprise there's a gingerbread house.
