I've chipped over 150 and not gotten any. Will try more later.

Was it chippin boulders or mining them?

Also: Does only a mined-on-a-BM-boulder has a chance for an amethyst, or all?

A geode is even alot more rare than 1/150. Chipping a couple builders won't get you one, they're likely to be harder than 1/1000.
