Dried Fishes

Postby Zibens » Thu Jan 07, 2016 6:34 pm

Probably lot of you have seen it already,

But i've got question, why dried fishes got nerfed? I mean, seriously? for 2-3 days of Drying them, they are pretty useless, in gluttony and as a snack..
I do not think anyone is really drying them anymore, also they are not being used in pretty much anything?

Ideas?

Yeah, they seem like they could be a little more potent, or 10% for 10% rather than 10% for 20%. OTOH, drying frames are cheap as hell and drying fish is pretty set-and-forget so it's easy to do in huge quantities.

Would be nice if there were recipes that used "any dried fish" at least, or if "any fish" permitted dried fish as well although there's only two recipes that use "any fish".

They are great for new people because there is zero effort in making them.

You need to dry them with good purity for better results. They are a good way to start new alts.

New people cook fishes, and zero effort? It's 2-3 days for them to be actually useful, by that time, these new people are already on 20-30 biles atleast...

If they are that new to not be able to reach 50 biles in 3 days then they probably don't know how to fish nor that they can dry fish.

There is ZERO effort in catching or drying fish. 100% passive activity. Even if they had 20-30 biles the fish are still helpful as a topper.

Zero effort, lots of opportunity cost.

The space that fish takes up on the drying frame for a LONG time could be better used on hides, or willow bark. More drying frames are not really expensive or difficult, but simply take up an obnoxious amount of space, and still face the same opportunity cost issue. You could make more, and take up more space, while using them for something more desirable.

Maybe dried fish can use a little love, but they are meant to be a low level food due to their ease of making and that fact you need no ingredients but the fish itself and a rack. If you think your space usage is better served by not spamming drying racks, that's your decision. The option is there for those who want it.

There should be more recipes with them. Same as Jalapeno. 2-3 days is quite long time for an ingredient to be made, atleast they would become more valuable. For example, it could be usen with bread, in salads, or something.. They could be put in more complex recipes.
