Actually, I highly doubt that increasing leather purity with increased lime concentration is true. It's the first time I hear about that.

edit: Tested it with 6% limed water, got standard 0% purity limed hide. So looks like there is no way to make higher purity Woo Woo wand

If the experts know this for sure, the wiki should be updated to remove the purity concept. Tanning page:
Solution concentration doesn't affect tanning time. High concentration raises resulting leather quality a little bit.

The wiki implies that it's the brain concentration that increases purity.

At least we know lime concentration has no impact.

Woowoo wands never had purity though. Back when there was high purity singing old logs the woo woo still came out at 1.00p Furthermore there's no source of higher purity lime or brains unless there's been a recent change. Eventually livestock will help there, but not yet.

Either way, the answer is no. You need dowsing rods to get higher than 1.17x mines atm. It's still a placeholder so eh.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

sorry to sound noobish, but we are just getting into mining and smelting in our lil tri of friends, and are curious as to what the purity in ore really effects? i could see going through all this trouble of increasing rod's purity at each new mine, rinseing and repeating slowly building it up, but what does the purity do? does it make tools more efficient? give more nails per bar? etc..? or is it just an unused stat that they plan to impliment someday? thanks very much for the info. i searched purity and didnt find what i was asking so i asked here to you nice people.

thanks kindly. i guess it doesnt hurt then to make one dousing rod fom the mine at 100% pure ore, just to use for the next mine locating trip, rinse repeat, but beyond that, think we will just do the 13:12 mix for more bars per load.

preciate the quick response :)

12 at the absolute most. 13 is assuming that lime has ~ 0 value and the chance to get a bar is random, which it turned out not to be.

Hi im not sure if this is covered in your guide but a word of warning to new characters who intend on building a wall asap.

I logged in today to find someone had built a wall across my gate. Since my character is fairly new i don't have the required phlegm to put a dent in a stone hedge and i'm now locked inside my own claim!

Moral of the story: It probably isn't a good idea to put a wall up that you wouldn't be able to knock down yourself if you needed to, course in theory someone could wall off your claim entirely but that takes abit more effort than just blocking the gate. Also you might consider pushing your plegm up to be quite an important goal to combat this particular stunt.

Mmm, a better way to put it is "Don't build a wall on areas you haven't claimed if you can't knock them down". Building a wall on an unfriendly claim isn't fun nor easy enough to make it griefable really. (Unless this happened on a claim, if so that's the first I've heard of it.)

But yes, that's a good idea for me to mention it.
