Great Buildings

Postby xsarfax » Fri Dec 25, 2015 2:14 pm

Maybe should be something great to build, like ark on popham.
I mean, ex.:
-Town Hall
-Pyramid
-WatchTower
-"Evil Church"
-Castle/mini castle (like hous)

I mean somethink bigger than this small barn. 7 wonders of world. Just somethink for constructors, for ppl which want to do something bigger. Its can give nothink or ex. Auth for town ¦]
This should be spirit of this game, not raiding ;D

Fair idea, but what would these buildings do, who would they benefit, where would they be built?

a Watchtower could report whenever a player enters its visual range to Townchat :)

These buildings should can build everyone who belong to town, it is like... expansion of town
Building shouldnt make anythink, or gives bonuses to towns.
Ex.:
Town Hall +10% (or more) puting silver into bell, / +1000 Affluence (or more)
Pyramid - Like crypt, for dead body/ or like a great safe chest (i mean, you can go into and build something there (like with barn))
WatchTower - hmmm in one medieval game its gives +50 time needed to start raid
Evil Church - make darkness, or make darkness deeper (only for witch )
Castle - Like a bigger stone hous, ex. with dangeons, and more than 2 floors
-just ist so many possibilitys

Thes building can have bonuses/use like up, additionaly should look nice(even if only for dekoration)..

I think serwer buildings arent too good - we will se Players killers soon ;D
But idea of Town buildings, when a group of people can create something (or single hardcor ;d ) - i like it
Just

This should be expensive, even few time more than barn, so if this will be giving some bonuses, can give good motivation for play ^_^

Castles wouldn't make sense in the setting of Salem though nor would Pyramids.

Oh, but i am Aztec guy, i want to have piramid ;D For now we can make only piramid from "mud/dirt (?)", i mean with shovel, but it look not so nice.
Btw. Salem is colonial game, if i good remember. When Europa went take south america, there was native buildings ;D
We have guns, witches etc... just medieval, why not castles ? Of course, hermit cant build something like that, but nice amount of people yes. And then, you can be king of your town :ugeek:

Not sure what the deal with this place is:

I think I still have the map somewhere. Not sure.

The pyramid was actually used extensively in Freemason iconography, which predates Salem. That's how it eventually ended up on US money.

There's about 2 centuries of difference between what you describe and Salem's historical setting. No European settler has ever built a pyramid as you envision it at this time.

Yea, thats right, European settler didnt build piramids, but i mean... hmmmm we can create ourselfs a bit ancient climate if thes buildings doesnt native occure. This is my small vision, not necessarily good

I'm all in favor of Town Halls and Watchtowers if they fit the atmosphere of the game and add good mechanics. Pyramids and Castles though...
You could turn the Castle into a Bastion of some fortification that would have been used at that time (though colonists did not really build large fortifications but around their major cities as they did not have any real ennemies near their borders till early 18th century). They majoritarly built small fortified temporary camps to protect themselves against Native Americans mostly (and French if they were English, or English if they were French and against Spanish because everyone hated Spaniards ;p)when going for fur hunting. Also fortifications were mostly found near the ocean as they were mainly used against ships, as stated before ennemies inland were not really an issue as, if ennemies inland there were, they were either small units of militia-like infantrymen skirmishing or Natives raid parties, both not following the standard European military tactics against which fortifications would have been useful. Another point worth raising is the fact that the towns in the early colonization were incredibly small, not befitting the use of large fortifications. We are talking of less than 100 puritans in each town. Only later did larger towns started to prosper.
To come back in terms of game mechanics, mega-structures could be fun to have.
I like the idea of the Watchtower giving a log of anyone trespassing city limits (or perhaps watchtower range). It could be fun if you had to have someone actually inside the watchtower to work (could be used like a bed but the higher the biles the larger the range to avoid staffing it with fresh spawns).
The Town Hall could combined some features asked by the community to facilitate town communication like: Billboards for town members (rewritable with permissions and all), log of whom was connected for how long, mailboxes with a deposit box where anyone can drop stuff and an internal inventory that only the owner of the mailbox can open.
Instead of a Pyramid we could have Catacombs (there are some historical remains of American Catacombs) that could be used as Crypts but for multiple people or an entire lineage (could be useful for Heff) and safer/harder to destroy than a regular Crypt.
Bastions could provide a longer range for mortars, an increased timer for TbF against the town, could be a mega brazier covering a very large area of your town and be a very safe vault (could be everything above and only one, I like the mega brazier mechanic best tbh).
