The amount of salt in this thread... LOL

All i see is raiders ***** about how the patch sucks, ***** cry more.

JC nailed it on the head, casual players are fine with it, Hardcore players are crying like little *****.

Perhaps you should invest some time into adjusting your raid tactics instead of slapping your keyboard on the forums, it seems JC/Marp are sticking to this change and there aint **** you can do about it.

From the sounds of it, the whole raid/defense system is getting an overhaul, and im pretty interested to see how it turns out, for better or worse.

What people are mad about isn't that there are things being changed just that things aren't being changed in the right way for them. You posting about salt is just beyond retarded for many reasons.

A play style has essentially been destroyed further than it already was. You can say stop being lazy and such but that doesn't make a system good. When does the time invested in raiding make it not worth your while? For me this was before this patch. I simply don't have the time to make a townbell, circle a village and then invest the time to drain braziers and break a wall. Combat, mining, infiltration and information gathering was the only option for me. The entire raiding system is just annoying and not fun at all. Mortars are a very interesting mechanic and could be fun firing them back and forth on both sides. Tea however makes things almost unplayable unless you can get a pclaim set down.

Popham does have the option of a more raider friendly environment but you have to invest the same amount of time into industry and a character to a world that will disappear at one point. Yes there is a way to get your character back but again the amount of time invested simply isn't worth it for most people. I don't know popham populations but I do know that the only post we see from that server are with trades. Even with a much more raider friendly environment you no longer see HoB threads. Raids could be going on and no one is posting about it but no one is posting looking for justice and no drama threads. It's hard to tell really due to the secretive nature of this game what is actually going on. Yes we have a raiding server but if it's not being utilized as one then why continue to try and force people to play on there when they have a huge time investment with provi?

Casual players are happy because 90% of the salem population has no idea how basic mechanics work and don't try to learn anything beyond right and left clicking. They are happy because they don't raid and have no idea how it works. Most people don't even know what a scent looks like. A vast majority of people don't even know how to glutton a character efficiently or at all. Hardcore are upset for a reason, they know the mechanics. Raiding essentially isn't hard but it is time consuming and not fun at all. A majority of the time raiding doesn't give you a return in what you put in with silver, time, food, inspiration and characters if you lose them. It's more beneficial to be like heff and drop pclaims and rob noobs with a 10 min character than it is to spend weeks making a character with high risk and little reward.

I saw that JC said that there will be more raider friendly mechanics but unfortunately it could be some time till we see these changes depending on how far along they are. Some of the things he mentioned have been asked for and could be VERY fun. I look forward to seeing what could come from it. We more than likely aren't seeing the big picture but half releasing/changing a huge system like this is a problem with a game in full release. Breaking raiding without giving raiders the tools to properly deal with the massive buff to defenders hurts the game in the long run. Perhaps the the new things for raiding will balance this out and make it more fun and worth the investment into a crime/raiding character but we won't know that for some time.

I don't know the exact times to break walls anymore or the biles needed to do this but I do know breaking a wall is very time consuming in the multiple hours area. Thats before you factor in braziers. If someone could post actual times and biles needed for each wall this might give people a better idea as to why there is so much salt. A return to the old ways of breaking walls could be the change that's needed to make things much more bearable. We don't really know without actually testing this out.

This is some of the reasons why people are upset. Let them vent their frustration instead of posting a kiddie ass response.

We aren't swayed by the angst of untested opinions. We will wait until opinions are based on testing and not fear to consider changes.

I forgot to mention this in my post.

Giving actual feedback with testing is the only way you will sway the developers to your line of thinking. Cleaty is a prime example of how not to deal with the devs which a majority of people in this thread have been acting like.

Dallane hit the nail on the head. Raiding did not feel as fun as it can and could be. So while the important metrics and statistics were in the desirable range for us on hardness, time invested, tears made etc. We felt that if we rip it down and rebuild the raiding system we can and will do a better job. While it would be nice to roll out every change at once as a total package, existing development constraints do not allow for such things and most major system rehauls will come in pieces like this. Our target is 4 patches of this magnitude over 30 days or so and we should be in a lot better place than where we started. At least in terms of fun.
