PO Box

Postby colesie » Sun Nov 18, 2012 11:47 pm

Like the postman in Boston only from player to player instead of game to player. Type in the player's "PO Box Secret" and pay a fee to have a message or item sent to their PO box for it to be checked later. Attach a silver amount to the item for delayed trades.

An example being someone messages me on the forums asking for "x" quality seeds for "y" price followed with their PO secret. I log on and send the seeds to the secret with "y" amount of silver as a payment for the person to be able to claim the item. This makes trading safe and convenient for everyone involved and eliminates the need for two people needing to be on at the same time. (Timezones, rl, etc)

Sounds good to me. Fairly certain the devs have already run across this idea on their own but it doesn't hurt to prod a little :)

Edit: Pshh, probably been suggested at some point too. I don't follow these forums regularly enough.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

I found another thread for "letters" but it was more aimed towards having parchment like in haven instead of signposts.

sounds like a good way of hoarding loots between your main and alts without hassle, to me.

Put a timer on how long things can be stored in the PO box to 24 hours and don't allow scented items to be stored and that wouldn't be a problem.

Than a PO box will of course also become the scented item detector.

Lol, I see no problem with that. I've always seen scented items in trades as a very lame tactic and I've never used it in Salem or in Haven.

Simply limit the number of "mailed" items you can have at a time. If you limit it to 5 or even 10 mails, that's very little in the way of storage. Alts can hold far far more than that. And you still need to go to boston to actually mail said thing I'd assume.

I don't see that as being a problem at all.
