Different Land Leveling System

Postby riker88 » Fri Dec 11, 2015 3:29 pm

Playing both Salem and Haven & Hearth , I definitely find the land leveling in H&H easier to do. In Salem, trying to level a large piece of land never turns out correctly for me, getting the land perfectly flat seems impossible. Was wondering if this could be tweaked so that it's easier to get land flat.

Are you using a custom client? CTRL + L should give you a flattening grid. Then holding CTRL and clicking a tile should level it according surrounding tiles, well IIRC.

Yes Enders,

Problem is the surrounding tiles are all not the same height, I find myself having to revisit already worked on tiles because one end of my zone is vastly different than the other. Adding dirt is another chore knowing exactly where to add it and such. It just is a lot easier with H&H, all automatic once you set the height using the landscaping tool.

If you're having that much trouble, you're not using the tools properly. Ctrl-dig will dig on each corner of a single tile until it is flat. Ctrl-drop will drop dirt on each corner of a single tile until it is level. This way, you can make one tile level and then work your way outward from there. You can also shift-dig or shift-drop on a vertice to dig a single piece of dirt or drop a single piece of dirt.

There's also the leveling tool itself, mentioned above, which will color the area and make it really easy to see what is level, what is too high, and what is too low.

Can we get a way to remove those annoying thin, tall cliffs? If there's a thin cliff near a bunch of rocks or other area that can't be added to, the cliff cannot be levelled or dug in any way at all. It would be nice to be able to dig even when the character is in that balancing mode. If if such digging was slower or costed more phlegm, at least it would make them removable instead of permanent hindrances.

There are some places people should just not build in the world. If you built your base next to such a conundrum then you should either expand your base in the other direction or make a whole new base, or struggle to solve the problem. Mind posting a screenshot of what exactly is going on that you can't fix it? Maybe I can suggest something or maybe not.
