Rebalancing Madness

I've never had my Madness level go up above 3 on any character and this was due to a blood moon. I just play regularly, without the thought of doing anything about Madness.

The only way you can really get madness levels is if your playing the game wrong, or if your purposely trying to gain madness levels.

Wasn't there a thread about this **** a while ago?

I think I'm having a problem with madness here...

The first time I struggled with it was during a blood moon. I guess I gained 2 level madness for being online at the moment, so after that I've been trying to be careful reducing/not gaining insanity. However, whenever I do something that supposedly removes or reduces insanity, it happens that I gain insanity instead!

At first it was only a suspicion, but now I'm completely sure. I study regularly but I never reduce insanity, just the opposite. Today I woke up in my bed and I was happy and everything was fine. I went and caught a butterfly and boom! Suddenly 3 level madness... Isn't supposed that catching butterflies reduces insanity?

What's happening? Could it be a curse?

FYI: I sleep in a leafy bed, I don't have any teddy bear.

Catching butterflies only reduces a very small amount of insanity. Are you wearing a cthulu mask or are you on the edge of darkness so that you see rats and things?

Nope. In fact, I haven't done anything yet that increases insanity, except being online when a blood moon appeared once.

Well, since this is rather off-topic, I suggest you read the Insanity patch notes to see if you are doing anything that might be increasing your insanity that you don't know about, and post in Help if you can't figure it out. There are also a few threads in help talking about it, you can do a search.
