Future of gaming

Postby Frotted » Thu Nov 26, 2015 2:06 am

The problem is low population and available bandwidth.

it's no secret IP addresses are in short supply. If an "Indie" game like this is going to survive it has to have a substantial subscription base- that is individual email accounts (not alt accounts) attached to it to substantiate it's existence and why it deserves to exist on the WWW (World Wide Web).

Likely borrowing trouble down the line- sure; but I think it should be considered now vs when it's a make/break decision. I suspect the 'day' is coming much sooner than anyone (even me) realizes.

What would happen to Salem if it needed 10K separate email accounts that couldn't' be tracked back to individual IP today... with no notice or warning to populace the trace was happening?

I have 4 email accounts I use... I'm sure others have at least as many... so the 2193/month is more like 1000? or less?;\

Guess Salem will be SOL and destined for somebody's personal server and cut bandwidth to dial up or little better... if that.

(I don't know about the rest of you... in EU; but i'm in the US and at 150 MB/s locally... I still have lag issues in Salem...can't imagine everyone but the guy next door has it any easier.)

Regardless- even if all 2193 logins were individual... it wouldn't meet my hypothetical bare requirements to be deserving of keeping its IP. Does anyone imagine the gaming restrictions will be less than 10K? Are you banking the future on it...because if you do nothing...you are doing that already.

Devs either need to start making the game player friendly... or get ready to close shop forever. Quit this BS talk about the game being paid for... will matter not at all if your ISP marks you as trash and cuts your access for all time.

Wake the ***** up! Now, seriously... now!

Heffernan- your argument had no substance behind it... you were dismissed for good reason.

I read your thread... it's was Emotional BS from start to finish.

My argument- is founded in FACTS... not emotion. If you can't see the difference... you need help... you won't find it in here..

PS- for Heffernan

(Worse you comment here like a poor loser... ***** hurting b/c I made a good argument and you went to such lengths to spread your legs and nobody wanted any?!... WTF... you react like a spurned woman vs a concerned citizen... which are you?!)

Hey man I get what you are saying and I know that deep in your twisted, creepy hateful heart you have love for this game like all of us do and Im sure all the people that are left playing love this game and dont want to see it close down. We know what you mean and Im sure the Devs know it too and Im guessing they are always thinking of how to make the game more atractive to new players. But really do you think making posts like these will make things go smoother for the devs? You are just putting more preasure on them and that wont help. Im always telling people to stop crying and bashing out at devs and instead give ideas for the game to be better and attract more people. Just relax and give the devs some time or send them a pm giving them your concerns or good ideas for improvements (without insulting) and maybe you will help them in a way so they can make this game last longer for the good of all of us :D

Irving- (Know you were the one who raided me by and by)... Devs have lot going for them; but Popham is a joke, etc. Some ideas are good- others are failures.

Darworth is another example and that ludricrously stupid post about the top 10... How do you expect to get folks to join in, realize what it take to level up, and then stick around when there's some Monster at 1500 humors wandering around killing however he pleases?

Non-starter.

I get the old farts like the game the way it is...and I suspect they like it just as much with 4-5 others and nobody else.

That's the problem. irving- you like it, Heffernan- you like it... and so do I.. .but I wager Darworth would keep liking it if all of us disappeared tomorrow...forever. He's love it that much move if only his closest buddies were around to contest with.

Suggestions?

1. No more posts about the Maxes of anything..
2. Past 500 humors you lose the ability to Kill <500 humors and can only chastise other players- send them to stocks etc. IE- You've grown ''beyond' the need for petty revenge or theft... etc, etc, etc, Vica-versa... 400 humor toon can't kill 500 toon... etc
3. Those past 500 humors CAN KILL those who are also past 500 humors
4. Get rid of the Tribe into... I know Tribe has a big place in this games past; but rubbing it in for any returning members... just gives them that much more ammunition in calling Tribe BS forever after... and while it's good for Tribe's legend... it totally sucks for game's growth. Keep Chief and lose the teepee's or similar... is the Intro to prep us for Pioneer life or to become Tribe's new Braves?... get a grip and let go of it already Dev!

well tbh... im not quiety sure whats going on, the devs were really active once and deployed patches every month and every week, made collecting stuff events, ingame events every week, shop events, black friday events, christmas, baking contest, we even had a time last year were JC logged in MULTIPLE TIMES DAILY to give out free horses or collect clothes and slot random stuff for new players etc... now we havent seen events in months and the devs log in like every 5-10 days on the forum and never ingame, i still hope this changes buuuuuut.....

Lack of Dev love isn't an excuse for running off folks... sure Devs can make/break a game; but in Salem- so can players. And from what I've seen...the players are rushing into the Abyss blindly thinking they will somehow manage to be on top or be alive when the curtain falls.

In this particular rush... Darworth won, we all lose...and you guys thinking to compete ensured his victory- ***** bastard idiots...

Please post your multiple stats of toon with 1500 humors plus...?

NO? This stfu and quick killing newbs... give them time to learn or leave... even a 1500 humor toon would have problems with 1500 opponents... quit trying for your own glory... and consider the 'big' picture.

Frakked: I dont know what you are talking about man. Darwoth has not been attacking noob players as far as I know, Im sure you have not gotten trouble from him and I have never gotten problems from him and you think Im a veteran of the game? XD Ive been here for a few months and just found the game to be fun and worth the time spent in it.

Heff: I understand what you mean and Im really hoping they come back to being active and give us new fun **** in game XD

I normally don't lock idea threads but this one is going to get shut down unless Meow says otherwise. Everything you said in the OP is 100% false. You need to learn how the internet works. We will never run out of IP addresses, stop saying this.
