Rebalancing Madness

sup.

could we rebalance the Madness/Insanity, so its only gained when
- Mining in Deep Mines
- Committing Crimes and Murdering
- being in Darkness
- performing Witchcraft

and REMOVE Madness/Insanity gain from these actions
- Standing around

i believe and would like to discuss that you should not be punished for actively playing more then a hour especially for those who play longer.

Are you trying to tell me you wouldn't go mad standing around doing nothing for hours on end, just ... standing there, staring into the abyss? Melting away into your own thoughts while you sit alone with nothing but walls and a barren wasteland surrounding you (assuming that there is no people around in your base)

People who play for more than an hour are not punished in any way.
Go whittle some sharpened sticks, go study an item every 5-10 minutes, cook some regen food, play the trumpet if you really need to. Let yourself gain a madness level and then smoke the hookah. Its pretty easy to keep your madness in check.

By the way, I usually spend 6 hours mining a day and rarely ever get to madness 1. (Thats because I sift rubble and find gems though)

Actively playing is NOT standing around.

Actively playing is NOT standing around.


yeah but it is all sort of stuff that has to do with standing around, waiting for stuff to finish, trading ,talking, running around etc.. all kind of stuff wich now increase madness alot.

Basically you want to sit in town doing nothing as usual. Madness isn't stopping you from spaming your trade advertisement. Im sure in the amount of time you use socializing you can take a break from the keyboard to study a rock.

Yes because people can keep their characters online forever to avoid stocks, gain counter in the timer npc, etc.

Get tobacco farms ;)

Yeah Heff I dont think madness from standing around should be removed. Its so easy to avoid going crazy that it has been responded the same way so many times all around the forum. Just study up or even tickle people when you are advertising in providence XD

No, insanity and madness are part of Salem. We lightened up the more inconvenient parts considerably. You'll have to be happy with that.

i think you should be able to spike tobacco with something to make folks gain a madness level when they smoke it.
